I have a really dumb question about this. DS has a first generation ipad he was given as a gift that is linked to the inlaws iTunes. If we were to trade it in for a mini, would we be able to get his movies and games on to the new one without buying then again? Eta: We have no other Apple products so we are Apple dumb!

We have an iPad 2, I wonder if they give money back for that one too. And to the pp, you can reinstall any app you have without having to buy them again on a new device. The easiest way to do it is to back up your ipad to your computer using itunes and then hook up your new ipad to the computer when you buy. But even if you don't do that, if you use the same Apple id it will know which apps you have purchased and if you search for them you will be able to see a download link without a buy option. The iTunes sync option is much easier though
I told my husband about this - he never got around to using his 2nd gen iPad. He wasn't able to get to Target until tonight, and the woman who was handling the trade-ins had already left. And he says the sign at the store said it was only toward a new iPad.
