A work chick got a job transfer to our parent company across the pond in Scotland, so yesterday they were having a happy hour party for her. I declined the whole thing since I saw it was on a skate day and didn't want to bail on my friend, plus I don't really work closely with this chick so I didn't think she would miss my presence anyway.
The scoop today is that out of the 30 who RSVP'ed YES, only 12 showed up, the one in charge ordered way too much food that was wasted, and the girl of honor never even showed up! She started feeling dizzy and had to go to the hospital, never making it to the party at all. I've been told she's fine now, but what a mess!

Might I add that this also proof that I made the right choice not inviting any of my coirkers to our wedding. I just knew they would be the category of folks to say they were coming and then not show up, I can just sense that most of them would do that.
Also, most of the no-shows from the wedding guest list were the H's coirkers, and I razzed him about that after the fact. He invited 30 members of his school staff and there were a good 10-12 of them that didn't come after saying they would.
Coirkers are good at pretending they care about your personal life at times but when it comes down to it, most of them just don't want to make the extra effort outside of work.
