some of you may remember that my company was purchased by a large (fortune 500) competitor earlier this year, causing anxiety and much gnashing of teeth regarding the status of my job.
well, fast forward from january - my department remained intact, i was officially promoted to director, and the similar department from the legacy organization now reports to me.
some of our processes and tools have become very widely discussed around the company, with accompanying phrases such as "best in class" and "point of difference" and "need to leverage". so, that's pretty cool too. while i can't take credit of the origin of many of these, i certainly feel ownership to them, and can show how i've evolved and improved them.
well, i was asked to present a specific system/process to senior leadership - read: CEO and his myriad direct reports. presentation was today.
I FUCKING ROCKED IT!
i was concise, got my point across, could field questions intelligibly (even directly from the CEO), and one of the VP's applauded my passion and enthusiasm for my team and our work.
i've since received emails from other EVP's praising the presentation and the work we're doing, and asking how we can further develop what we do to make a bigger impact with our customers.
just an amazing day. i feel really, really good about myself right now.
