Ultrasound? I mentioned to the OB the constant vagina pains I've been having for a week and she did an internal exam and it all seemed fine but wants to do the actual measurements to be safe. The hospital will call me to book an appt.
How do they do that? And most of all, does it hurt? Lol
My OB was able to measure my cervix during a routine (transabdominal) ultrasound. He was looking at the babies and said, "oh hey - you have a very nice, long cervix. 7cm." Well, okay then. That was probably 10 or so weeks ago.

Wow, that is a long cervix! Mine has been around the 5cm mark and the Dr always tells me how long mine is. Good job Julez's cervix!
And papie - I've had many cervix measurements and agree with PPs that they just use the vaginal wand thing and measure from there. Totally painless.
At my anatomy scan the tech measured mine with the regular stomach wand. She put it on my crotch area, I wouldn't call it penetration but she got real friendly. It was weird, really really weird.
I had it measured twice more and each time it was with the internal probe.
