Here she is in the waiting room this morning looking all cute and snuggly in an outfit from @stellasmom. Even though DH and I were complete wrecks and had to wake her hours before normal, she woke up with the biggest smiles and was cool as a cucumber. She got a bit hungry as we waited to get her admitted and met with the doctors who were going to do the surgery/anesthesiology, etc. But she was never very fussy. I'm so glad we were able to have her surgery done today, she will have no memory of this and she is really healthy and strong. I have to admit though, I really am sad that her beautiful chest will have a big scar.
It's incredible here. She's already laid on her side, sat up and almost completely off oxygen. I cannot believe how quickly this is moving. I really really hope that she continues to improve as well as she has been today.
And I miss DS, who is at his grandparents. He had to stay there during our NICU stay and really didn't want to sleep over again. DH plans to get him tomorrow morning. Until then, I'm here alone with the nurse and you guys!
Thanks for all the positive support! I really appreciate it!!!
My best friend all through middle school and a lot of high school had open heart surgery as a kid. She has a huge scar on her chest. But it has always been something she has embraced and it never seemed weird or noteworthy, despite being noticeable. Your girl is a fighter and gets to show that off to the world. I am so glad everything went smoothly and am sending well wishes for a quick, easy recovery. Also, what a cutie!
