I'm watching this god-awful movie on ABC Family called Prom that has all the trope-tastic fixings: misunderstood bad-boy, overachieving good-girl, overlooked nice guy, etc.
One character just referred to prom as a "soul crushing mistress." LOL
Prom was a huge deal at my all-girls school. Weeks of preparation, dress shopping, and we even had to figure out our seating arrangements.....I remember yelling at the top of my lungs out of frustration, "BITCHES, THIS IS NOT A WEDDING!"
How was your prom? Did you go? Was it a big deal at your school?
I went my sophomore, junior, and senior year. My senior year, my bf was in college and couldn't make it home to go. I went with a male friend. Prom was just ok each year. It was never really special. I was prom queen my senior year, though.
We actually just decided last night that our fancy New Years party (that just means we dress up, not actual fancy) would be prom themed. We're using my friends apartment, getting balloons, making a backdrop, streamers- the whole thing. It's going to be ridiculous. I'm planning on wearing my senior prom dress and then yelling, "see?! SEE??! I told you I'd wear it again! Aren't you glad I kept it now?!" to anyone who will listen.
And H and I went to my prom together, so the side by side of those photos will be hilarious.
It was fun, I guess. I went to 4 proms but my senior one was fo' free b/c I was on court. That and my dress were the best parts of it.
We always had ours in this shitty ballroom at a nearby college. The food was decent, though. H's prom (well, non prom b/c they didn't like what the word "prom" implied) was cool. It was at the local museum with pretty tasty food.
Apparently none of these proms that I attended were like a lot of yours lol. I got my hair done, did my own nails, and then took pictures with friends and parents for like an hour.
Prom was no different they any of the other dances, it was just held in a different location. Even then the locations weren't that great. One year in particular the high school gym would have been the better option.
I had a pretty great senior prom. A group of girlfriends & I were either single or dating older guys, who didn't exactly wanna take a weekend trip from college to attend HS prom. SO four of us girls gathered up a group of 4 single, fun junior guys that we were all buddies with & we had an excellent time. No romance, but great personalities & a whole lot of fun!!
