The dress thing is way weird. If she already has her dress, it is a total waste of time. I would be a fan of that. A fun girls day, where she tries on her dress, and maybe you get mani's pedi's, have dinner and wine? Yes, but a pointless trying on of dresses that she has no intention of buying? No

The date thing isn't weird, especially if that's the day the met. The dress thing is strange though...I get wanting your wanting your bridesmaids there, but if they can't make it, that's life.

So she's going to go to the bridal salon and waste the attendants time pretending she might purchase another dress when she has zero intention of doing so. I'm under the impression those people work on commission.
I wouldn't have anything to do with that nonsense.
I've always thought dress shopping is more of a BFF/MOB thing (even if you're genuinely looking). Not a "8 bridesmaids" kind of thing. I honestly wouldn't entertain that craziness.

I also went dress shopping alone, so...lol.
I agree with you. I think I would feel awkward making everyone sit through that. It seems like a bff/MOB thing.

If the dress thing is isolated and she's otherwise cool, eh, whatever (except for wasting the salespeople's time. That's not cool). IF she hasn't had much of the whole "bride" thing, and doesn't plan to, I can see wanting to have someone ooh and ahh over her, though why she didn't just wait to buy the dress is beyond me.
But with 8 bridesmaids, I'm guessing this isn't the case, and she'll be having all kinds of showers and whatnot - in that case, weird.
I think I'd have something come up suddenly and couldn't make the dress shopping thing. That's a bit too self-centered (her) than I would have time to put up with.
1. The salon is going to be irritated that she is bringing EIGHT people with her. 2. What a fucking waste of that sales persons time. Often they block off 30 min apt, meaning there are only so many brides to see in one day 3. Ditto Toledo.
