1 yr old ds has been favouring his leg for 24 hours or so now. Can't pinpoint when it was injured, but he was crawling last night instead of walking so I assume it hurt then.
He won't put any weight on it for spurts of time. It doesn't seem to hurt when we bend, poke or prod him. He doesn't seem in any pain, it's like it's numb.
Would you send him to daycare tomorrow?
We have his 1 year checkup Wednesday, can it wait until then?
Urgent care since it is Sunday. Did he have a cold recently? DS woke up with a sore hip he couldn't put weight on and that was one the questions our pediatrician asked. He said it can settle in a joint. Also questioned us on tick bites and being outdoors in case of Lyme. He started with an x-Ray and then had us wait and it improved over the next two days.
I would not go to urgent care, bc in my experience they're completely worthless for things like this.
I'd call our 24 hour nurse line, but if you don't have one then ER. I would not wait until Wednesday.
They would give the kid an X-ray I'm sure. How is that worthless? Every time I call the nurse line they ALWAYS say go to urgent care, just to save their asses.
OP, go to urgent care today. Would you put off a doctors visit if you couldn't put weight your leg? Probably not.
Thanks all. Would it change your answer if he was fine and running and crawling 95% of the time and only favouring it for a couple of minutes at a time?
Since he doesn't seem to be uncomfortable, I was going to wait it out a bit and see if it passed.
If he doesn't have a fever, I'd wait a day or so and see what happens if he is using it some. I would not go to the ER for something like this-- urgent care would be fine.
Two moms on my bmb had similar scenarios and the kids actually had slight breaks. Not trying to scare you but I would definitely be getting it checked out today, tomorrow at the latest.
