I've been in Omaha since last Thursday. I ran once and nearly died and by Omaha standards the heat and humidity were not that bad! I've been swimming a few times and that's super nice! Went on bike ride yesterday and while it was still hot it wasn't bad, but then I ran after. I only ran for 15 minutes and again I thought it was insanely humid. Today is another swim day as it's already 90 some degrees!
I"ve only been to one day and it was prelims. I start volunteering on Friday! I hope to get to finals either tonight or tomorrow night! It was fun the day that I went. I took my ss to the Aqua Zone where you can play games, win prizes etc. If anyone ever gets the chance to watch the swimming olympic trials whereever they might be held, I highly suggest going!
Sounds like you made the best if it, though! It is supposed to be 106 and humid here tomorrow . I work out inside during the summer, but even inside it is just hard to keep your body cool when it is that hot. I hate summer.
Yes, our forecast for this weekend: friday- 104 saturday- 106 sunday-104. Lovely. As a local running store's t-shirt so eloquently states: "Welcome to Atlanta: Heat. Hills. Humidity." Can't wait for the Peachtree RR!

I want my cold Seattle weather back!!
lol i grew up in Omaha! yeah, the summers are killer the humidity feels almost like a physical barrier.
winters are horrible too....way cold.
the midwest heat humidity was a large part of the reason i went to basic training in the winter...

I actually was able to get out for a run at 6:30am today. It was already 83 degrees when I started. I pushed through 4 miles, thought about 5, but the sweat was pouring off me so much I considered my 4 a nice goal met.
I rode my bike today for an hour. It was so FREAKING hot. I would have gone longer but I only had one water bottle (I'm renting a bike, so there is only one holder) and it was emptying quickly. By the time I got home I was drenched in sweat.
The nice thing (I guess) is that you do get acclimated. A few months ago, anything over 85 was hot to me and right now, 85 is as cool as it gets. I shiver, lol.
And then when the weather cools down, we get instantly faster...
