The school I did some of my student teaching in has recently made national news. It is about an hour away from me, in a small, rural, extremely low-income town. A mom claims she was banned from her daughter's school SOLELY for posting a picture concealed carry permit on Facebook. The news ERRUPTED, claiming Second Amendment violations, etc. Death threats, multiple phone calls to the school, etc. ensued.
In actuality, the crazy ass mother would wander the hallways and interrupt instruction. The school asked her to please report straight to the PTO area. She made off-handed threats to other PTO members (who reported it) about "ain't nobody gonna mess with me or my daughter, no matter what I have to do." Then, the same night the threats were reported, she posted the picture of her CCP with the same caption. The school board saw this as a threat and issued a no-trespass warning to her. Her DH is a felon serving 10 years for armed robbery. She is a veteran, and African-American, which are the two things she is claiming as the main reasons the school board felt threatened by her.
The meme of the Principal with the "Gun Grabbing" quote has been circling FB, along with her address. People showed up at her house. WTF. I just can't. I love Georgia, but god, I hate conservative gun-waving QUACKS. The one lesson I have definitely learned from this is how one-sided media is with stories that sell.
