I've had two different colleagues pulling me aside to tell me how awful they felt for me, and how uncomfortable it must have been, and how thank God I am almost done with my thesis.
When I told DH he was all "Well, what can you do, you had to make a call and you went with the majority" me: No I didn't! I refused to make the call! H: I am sure that is not how HE views it. Me: SHUTUP JERK. Not helpful! H: I am just telling it like it is.
I am dead guys. DEAD.
I will be sahking with fear until our next encounter. Which could be just at my defense if he decides to avoid me until then.
Head this off at at the pass. I'd shoot the fellow an email saying "Frank, it was so hard to abstain from voting the other day, and I'm sorry you didn't get a sabbatical; that's a tough deal. Can I take you to lunch?" or something like that. Get the first word out there.
This is a really good call.
Ugh, Papie, I'm so sorry you were in that position. What a mess.
