Maybe I meant "overdone". I can enjoy pumpkin pie or pumpkin cheesecake, but the pumpkin spice EVERYTHING around this time of year? Everywhere that sells a pumpkin spiced latte is *so* cutting edge. I'm all about some variety!
My mom insists on having pumpkin pie because it's "tradition". I always make an apple one. I'm gearing up for a fight this year when I host and don't make either.
No, it doesn't have to be pumpkin. But we have a pumpkin pie or cheesecake at Thanksgiving every year. Along with apple pie, coconut custard and whatever else there is.
No. My H and in-laws don't like pumpkin or pie of any kind, so their Thanksgiving desserts are always chocolate chip cake, banana bread, and ice cream.
With my family we do pumpkin pie, but also coconut custard, apple, and lemon meringue pies, and for a while my sister and BIL would bring whoopie pies, but they haven't since moving out of Lancaster.
