When someone posts on FB something a long the lines of "Send out [kids name]'s birthday invites soon! Message me with your address if you would like an invite". I've seen posts for wedding invites instead of birthdays. Which is worse.
No. No NO NO! Ugh. A) I know if I did this would get more people coming than I can afford B) people I don't like would be messaging me and C) IT'S SO TACKY! D) it's lazy!
That is weird. I would never give up control over my guest list. I'm too cheap.
I think it drives me more nuts right now because I just sent out Em's 1st birthday cards. I took one look at the list MIL gave me and was all "hell NO" to about 10 people. If I have never-ever met them they are not invited. I'm not spending money on people that I know will not come just because YOU think they should send my daughter a gift. I'm super possessive over my guest list!

That's tacky and risky. A few years ago, I posted on FB looking for someone headed to my home town on a certain date that wanted to drive (split gas) with me. I forgot this weird creeper I went to school with was on my FB as he NEVER EVER posts anything. He replied and I had to make up an excuse not to take him with me. It sucked.
But I had a friend who used to do it for Christmas cards, and I loved that!
Christmas cards sounds fun And Christmas cards don't have to be too expensive.
Someone on my fb did this with wedding invites. They got more than 400 requests. They changed dates and ended up doing a family only wedding. I've always wondered if the two were connected.
