So I'll admit I have always hated ironing. DH and I invested in a steamer quite a few years ago, but now that we have 2 little kids (a 2yo and a 4yo), I can't even remember the last time I did that. It bothers me because there are so many nice things in my closet that I pass up because they are wrinkled. I only get time to even consider looking at an outfit right before I go to bed at night. So my question is: which do u find faster/easier: ironing or steaming? And when do u find/make the time to do it? Part of me has thought of setting aside weekend time to ironing a bunch of stuff, but that never seems to happen. Especially now that it's summer we're outside as much as possible and the house stuff/errands have fallen by the wayside.
I prefer to iron, and mine has a steam setting that I can use if I need to fix a dress or something real quick. But for the stuff that actually needs to be ironed, like DH's work/dress shirts and pants, I'd rather pay for the dry cleaning than to be ironing for hours.
I have both. I use the steamer only if I'm in a hurry, but I prefer the iron. I iron mostly once a week, after DD goes to bed. taste 30-45 min max to iron, and do what I can in that period.. What is left, waits until next week. I know some people send everything to the dry cleaning, but here it's really expensive.
oh, my DH gets all his work shirts and dress pants dry cleaned too, so I don't have to worry about that. it's just my stuff. in the past i've preferred to iron or steam because i feel the cleaners is such a rip off. several times i've had it cost more to have something hemmed than the actual item cost, and that drives me insane.
Honestly? Dry cleaning. I cannot iron to save my life and I have made an honest effort several times and it still looks like shit.
I do this for some stuff. I can't iron or steam to save my life. I usually hang the wrinkled stuff in the bathroom during a steamy shower and get the wrinkles out that way if it's minor.
I do know that ironing and steaming are not genetic. My Mom irons to relax. It's a little crazy, but she loves it and is great at it. I can't even count the clothes I've lost to the iron.

Honestly, I prefer steaming. I have one of the full tall ones so all I need to do is hang my clothes and steam away. I have a lot of delicate tops, so steaming is much easier for me.

I SUCK at ironing. I wrinkle the other side and then keep flipping, flipping, flipping. It's a mess.
I much prefer steaming. I just hang the wrinkled clothes in one section of my closet and then steam them on the weekends when I get enough to make it worth it.
Pants are annoying to steam though b/c they're so long so I usually just put those on my H's dresser and he irons them. He's military so he's experienced and he doesn't mind to do the occasional pair. I'm not a big trouser wearer in general anyway.
I have a talent for ironing. Seriously. My grandmother used to give me lessons. But it's a chore that I don't particularly care for. I try to buy only things that I can get away with not ironing. Perhaps, that's why I am such a fan of knits.
