Yes! My mom had a large car and that is what I learned on, which, at the time was tough, but was great in the long run. I used to have to park for a BF.
Yes. I learned in a van. DH used to live in a DC suburb with a lot of one way streets, so I got a lot of practice while we were dating. I tend to get nervous when he is in the car with me though.
My driving instructor taught me a trick with the back bumper, dashboard, front bumper. Works like a champ so I'd rate myself a mediocre parallel parker. If I use my backup camera I suck.
I did it ONCE for my NJ driver's test at 17 and refuse to/cannot since. I think the guy giving me the test felt bad for me, because even now I'm a good 50ft from the curb when I do it..which has been 1-2times in 12 1/2years.

Newp. I also live in a downtown area with street parking but I'm terrible at it. I was proud of myself by parking a smart car in a small parallel spot this weekend in one try
Yup, I lived on a super busy street during college and my roommates and I had to take turns parking our cars on the street because our apt only came with 2 parking spaces. If you took more than a nanosecond parking on that street, people would start honking like crazy so we all got really good at it.
The tip is. Pull up exactly next to the car. Side mirror to side mirror. Or a little forward if you're not sure... Cut in. Kinda like Tetris. But FUNNER
The last time I did it in a non-easy pull-in space I made DS cheer me on from the backseat. I'd already spent 10 minutes looking for a spot with potential near my brother's in Brooklyn did a victory dance when I got out. If I didn't have a backup camera I would not have attempted. I needed 2+ spots pre-backup camera to attempt.
Yes, because I lived in SF. Since moving to SoCal, my skills aren't as sharp as they used to be though. I can still handle tight, flat spots and average uphill ones, but won't attempt parallel parking downhill anymore.

I used to be awesome at it - both sides of the street. My driver's ed teacher taught us some trick with lining up the windows of the vehicles, but I don't remember it now!
I haven't had to parallel park in ages, so I probably suck now. Wish I could remember the trick, lol. Off to google!
