Sunday afternoon, DH, DS, and I went to the grocery store. I needed to buy a bag of ice, but was distracted at the checkout by DS whining that he "needed" to go to Starbucks and get chocolate milk, so I forgot. There was no line at the customer service desk, so we stopped there to pay for a bag of ice.
I told DH to go ahead and take DS and the groceries to the car, and I would be right there. As I was paying, the cashier asked "Is that your son?" I said yes and smiled, thinking she was going to comment on the Superman cape he was wearing. Instead she said, "Oh, I have a class with him. We have a test on Wednesday."
It took me a full 20-30 second to realize she somehow thought DH was my kid. I just kind of looked at her, said "oh," and took my receipt. I went to the car and told DH, who almost choked laughing. I know I don't look 20 anymore, but DH is 38 and looks it - receding hairline, full beard and all.
Omg I would have never told H though. You are never going to live this down. Someone thought MIL was FIL's mom like 10 years ago and he still talks about it all the time. The funny part? He has always called her mommy so I am 120% sure that is the only reason the person was mistaken but he thinks it is because he looks so young.
