My half is in 13 days, and I did my last long run yesterday at 11 miles. It felt great, but I'm really having a hard time understanding the two week taper for just a half.
Hal Higdon's plan actually still has my running an 10 mile next weekend, but it was suggested on here that I not do that.
How would you taper? We are heading to Florida this next weekend so I'd prefer not to do a super long run then just because of timing, but would you still do 7 or 8 miles on Saturday (one week out from half?).
My last few training cycles, the program has topped my long run out at 12 miles two weeks before the race. I'd keep my mileage roughly the same for the next week (save for a less intense midweek speed session), do a 6-8 mile long run that weekend, then continue to taper that next week leading up to the race.
