Who has some lined up? I'm contemplating a 25k or possible 50k - that one would be for funsies, of course. These are in January...anyone else have winter races scheduled?
I'm marathoning again in January and I have two halfs (halves? I'm never sure) on the calendar, in December and February. I may tack on an April half that I've run the past couple years but I'm leaning more toward doing some 5ks and 10ks after the Feb half and really working on speed. I've been in long distance mode since June and I might just need a break from that.
Me! I've got a half this weekend, and it is going to be FREEZING! Winter is coming to the UK this week in a big way (Met Office are saying we are going to have the worst winter in 60 years) and I am running what would (in good weather) be the fifth most scenic course in the UK, but will prove to be really tough if it's windy and cold. Possible snow forecast and us Brits do not have the infrastructure for snow. Am I thinking of cancelling? Oh hell NO. Rug up, and bring that shit on.
I'm planning on Myrtle Beach Half in February. I would like to find a couple 5k's or 10k's, but am not willing to go more than about 20 minutes for them. This limits my options.

We've debated the MB full - we have a free place to stay...i'm just not sure i want to run 20+ mile runs in really cold temps I'm a hot weather runner!
Miami HM in February, and the Crescent City Classic in March (10K). At least I think it's in March-it's the Saturday before Easter, so it depends where Easter falls this year.

Women's Half - 11/24 Space Coast Half - 12/1 Some random 5k - 12/14 or 15, can't remember Princess Half - 2/24
Want a race for Jan and March.
If you're willing to travel, this one looks like fun. zoomarun.com/florida/ I was really looking forward to doing it this year, but it's the weekend before Celebration. We also have the country's largest 15k in Jacksonville in March. www.gate-riverrun.com/

The one in Jacksonville looks fun and has potential. I was looking in zooma too. I just need a race earlier in January as the last two weekends are booked with non-running activities.
Ahhh, you are right. All the little islands are confusing me.
you'll love kiawah - we love that island and race.
We love vacationing there in the summer and I really want to do that Half. Maybe next year... if you end up doing it, please come back and let us know!
I'm doing Rungirl. It was my first half last yearso I have a soft for it Its really well done and I love the atmosphere of a women's race.
Oh awesome. I bet you'll kill it, what with marathon training and all.
I'm hoping so. I'm still chasing a sub-1:50 HM. Unfortunately I'm a few pounds heavier than I was when I set my PR in April, but I'm hoping the increased mileage will make up for that. We shall see!
