My kids are doing therapy through ECI and the therapists come to our home. It's okay to give them a gift right? Do you think a $20 Target gc and handwritten note thanking them is okay? I thought about a holiday candle and something else but they probably don't need more crap.
Yes. Perfect. I am awful and didn't get DD's speech therapist a gift at Christmas (we only had one because started in January and aged out 18 months later). I did get her a thank you gift when DD transitioned to Child Find. $25 Starbucks Card and a thank you card "from" DD. I kept it at $25 in case there were limits about what they could accept.

You could also consider sending her supervisor/agency whatever a letter/email about how great of a job she is doing and letter her know that you did that.

I'm an SLP and love gift cards! Target and Amazon are especially helpful because then I can buy games and books for therapy and keep things interesting.
As a SLP, gift cards would be AWESOME. When traveling from family to family I'd often stop and grab a soda or a coffee, and that really adds up. Target would be great too because I often purchase toys/materials from my own budget. It's very nice of you to think about them!!
A Target GC would be great, especially for an SLP who works with children. I made quite a few trips to target and art supply stores this quarter and got a lot of things from the dollar bins to use as rewards/motivators. I would really, really appreciate a handwritten note from parents. I also think it's cute to have your kids sign as well (read: scribble).
A Starbucks/coffee GC is also good in my book - we appear to be a bunch who enjoy our caffeine.
I'm so thankful for this thread! I love L's SLP and I totally would've forgotten to get her anything.
Same -- except it wouldn't have been "forgetting", it was that I didn't know this was expected. Good to know!
I don't think that our OT or our nutritionist necessarily expected gifts, but we wanted to thank them for the work that they've done with DS. Plus, they work as contractors for the county that provides services, so I know they spend a lot of money out-of-pocket for things.
Thanks everyone! You all make a good point of how they have to spend their own money on things. Our therapists have all been fabulous-PT for one DD, speech and play therapists for all three-so I definitely want to let them know they are appreciated!I'm pretty sure they are wiped out by the time they leave our house-lol!
Ditto PPs, handwritten notes/cards from families mean the most sentiment-wise but gift cards are always appreciated too. Really, any gift is appreciated but a gift card to Target like you mentioned is something they'll really get use out of.

If you need ideas for holiday gifts for your little ones you can ask the therapists for ideas - DD's therapists had some great ideas for things to get that would both be fun and that they could use during the therapy sessions.
