For those of you that have completed a HIM, what plan did you follow? I am working in putting together a plan with a few other women here in Chicago in prep for the Steelhead HIM. THANKS!
For my first one, I did a 16 week plan that one of my training buddies found online. I am not even sure which one it was! At home I have a scanned pdf of the sheets listing the workouts by week, if you are interested.
This time around, I think I am going to buy a pre-built plan from a tri coach that some of my friends have worked with before. She is a multi-time Ironman, Kona finisher x2, etc., etc., and is an RD. I think I am also going to work with her on some nutrition aspects. Her 70.3 plans are 12 weeks instead of 16, and promote quality over quantity with training, especially with running, which aligns well with my needs (i.e. not to run more than 3x/week or pile on the miles).
There are not a ton of plans online for triathlon like there are for running. You can search through beginnertriathlete.com - they have plans for every distance (and you don't actually have to be a beginner). I've been writing plans with the guidance of a couple of books (thank you coconutbug): Be Iron Fit and Going Long, and making sure they align with the pre-made plans on beginner triathlete.com.

I've pretty much put my own plans together based on books I'd read and stuff I found online. I only just started working with a coach for this last IM.
