Aside from the obvious foil packets and hot dogs. A friend was telling me she roasts marshmallows and then pours baileys inside them and eats them like shots. Mmmmmm.
We like doing cornbread muffins with a hot dog I the center. Or hot dogs wrapped in bannock and then roasted.
I love campfire pizzas. (In the pudgie pie maker) Flatten out 1 roll of refrigerator biscuit dough for each "side". Spray the inside of the pie maker. Put one side of biscuit dough down, fill with pizza toppings, and then cover with second side of biscuit dough. Pinch the sides together.
The kind of camping I do involves instant oatmeal, Starbucks Via, trail mix, and either Backpacker's Pantry or Mountain House dehydrated food. Sexy.
LOL :Y:
We don't go camping often, but it looks a lot like this. Anything instant is our friend. Although we bring a coleman camp stove, so we can also heat up canned soup/chef boyardee.
I love pancakes made on my Coleman stove. Pancakes taste so much better when camping. Besides that, we do mostly foil packs, breakfast burritos, etc. There isn't anything recipe-ish.
we're a little ridiculous with our camping food - I refuse to go backpacking, so we truck camp, and we're not really limited in what we can bring. Between the dutch ovens (we have two) and the coleman stove we pretty much eat just like we do at home. Well...a little heavier on the carbs and cheese than at home. I figure we're burning it off hiking and stuff all day.
Sample menu (this is from our last camping trip): Friday Dinner: Dutch oven baked Ziti Dutch oven baked Garlic Bread Salad
Saturday Breakfast: Cinnamon Buns Eggs (cooked to order) Side of meat Hashbrowns/Homefries
Lunch: Sandwiches, Fruit, Chips
Dinner: Dutch oven roasted chicken thighs (over bed of veggies) Dutch oven Mac-N-Cheese

Me too. If we are cooking from scratch, we make things like couscous, because you can cook it literally in your bowl with boiling water and a little oil. I like to add dried basil, Parnassian cheese, and pine nuts.
