I hope I'm not stepping on toes by starting.
Even though I did a couple short races in October, this weekend is what I consider the "official" start to race season. I'm doing the Women's Half - St. Pete. I've always PRed this race. Looking for another PR this year. Competitor is now the organization behind the race, I really hope they don't f* it up.
Good luck to anyone racing this weekend, have lots of fun!
Conwy Half Marathon in North Wales. First half and (technically) first international race! That's kind of cheating because it's not even 90 minutes drive away.
My 2nd marathon is Sunday! RT66 Marathon in Tulsa. It's supposed to be 24F, and possibly snowing lightly at the start. I'm starting to freak out a little because I've never run outside in temps colder than 40ish (although with wind you could probably say 35F). I have UA thermal pants and I've run in them, but now I'm questioning if I need to wear sweats over them or something. Or does that violate the "nothing new on race day" rule? Or if not sweats, then what? I have 3 layers on top, and I might add another running jacket that I'm ok with tossing. I have gloves and a hat and I have a knit headband thing that I'm going to wear over my face for the first few miles. I'm going to put handwarmers in my gloves. In my coldest long run, my legs were cold for the first mile or so, but then they were fine with just the thermals. I don't know what to do.

I think you'll be fine to race in your ua tights. I would wear a pair of throw away sweats over them until the start, though.

I agree with Kams, you should be fine. I ran in 25 F on Wednesday morning for the first time this year. UA lined tights, long sleeve tech shirt, jacket, earband, gloves and I was feeling good after the first mile. Extra pair of sweats for the before race waiting, maybe an extra sweatshirt/jacket and hand warmers at the start. Three layers on top plus a coat might be too much, IMOl.

I'm running a 5k on Saturday night; like cinco, we'll be running through holiday light displays. I won't be racing it. I may be pushing a 3 year old in a stroller.
I also have a 10k turkey trot on Thanksgiving. I think I've only run two 10ks in my life. Again, not really racing, just trying to offset some of Tday dinner.

I'm also doing a 5k on Thanksgiving morning. Huge local race. Lots of fun, can't really "race" it because even though the organizers have split the 5k into a competitive and non-competitive, too many people in the competitive one who are not "competing." But its fun! Apparently, my running group does a big tailgate breakfast at this race. I'm really looking forward to it.

The top layers are an UA tank, a Nike Thermafit longsleeved shirt with thumb holes, and the outer layer is a bcg (academy brand) medium-weight 1/4 zip running jacket. This worked for me in 40F I get cold very easily. I'll put the thumbholes over my gloves and unlayer as I get warmer: First turn back the thumb hole layer; then put my gloves in my fuel belt band while putting the shirt thumb hole back on my hands; then if I get hotter, I can turn back the thumbhole over the top layer and pull my sleeves up. That worked in long runs; I hope it works this time too. I can also unzip the 1/4 zipper on the outer layer and the nike shirt too. I bought a cheap knitted headband thingy from walmart and I'm going to put that over my mouth and nose to warm up the air so my lungs don't burn. I'm going to be unrecognizable lol.
I have another running coat that I thought about wearing on top, but I agree that it's probably unnecessary. I will have a huge jacket to wear while waiting in the corral; I'm going to hand that off to my friend right before we start. I can easily add sweats to that and take them off shortly before the gun goes off. I think it'll be ok once I'm 2 miles in or so. I remember from my few colder long runs that I tend to dress on how I feel at the start rather than for 20 degrees warmer. So I'll forgo the extra running coat. I'm sure I'll be ok, but I'm a little panicky. Yay taper nerves lol. I have handwarmers that I'm going to put in my gloves, and I am also going to add one to my extra pouch on my fuel belt to keep my GUs from freezing.
Of course this would be the weekend that OK has the first winter storm of the season. At least I'll feel more badass when I tell people that I ran a marathon in sub-freezing temps.
Oh gosh, I guess Thanksgiving is less than a week away! I'm racing a Thanksgiving Day 10K (which I've done very few of!), and my DD is doing her first kids K!! I'm way too excited to get a pic of her with her bib and *hopefully* running through the finish!
I am running a half marathon. I got a bib from a friend last minute. Given that I haven't run more than 6 miles at a time in...3 weeks? This should be quite painful
