Short version--I ate pavement on my run today, but after crying a bit finished strong. Everything hurts but it was my fastest 6 miler in Garmin history.
Long version--My running partner bailed on my early morning run so I had to find a way to fit in a 6 mile pace run on this unusually cold and rainy day. I got my work done and realized I had just enough time to fit in 6 and be done in time to get my kids from school, so I reluctantly went for it. It was cold. The wind was brutal. Still drizzly. But I was pretty happy with my pace. And then, right at 2.97 miles, I ate it. Big time. After rolling around in the wet leaves and gravel for a second I stood up crying and limping. I half-heartedly waved at some cars, hoping someone would call my DH to rescue me. After a minute, when no one stopped, I realized I could walk, therefore I could probably run...and I had to get home somehow...so I turned back and ran home. Boom, fastest 6 miler. Now my knuckles, knee, hip and elbow are all a bloody mess. I look and feel like I was in a bar fight! But fastest 6 ever!
Mostly I just wanted to share, but also--do I attempt my long run tomorrow, or rest? My knee is bruised and swollen, and my inclination is to limp when I stand up. But I did run 3 miles on it fine...thoughts?

Wow, getting up and hauling ass after eating it is impressive! I would lean towards resting tomorrow, esp if your knee is swollen and you are sort of limping.

I can't answer whether you should run tomorrow. It's my experience that an injury mid-run gets my adrenaline going, and I can fly through the rest of the run, but I'm very sore the next day (more than I think I'll be...always).
Glad you were able to continue your run! And glad you're mostly OK.

This is pretty accurate. I'm glad I got good miles in yesterday because I'm a mess today! Limping, achy and mopey. My poor family, ha.
And also, I've learned that showers with road rash make showers with chafing feel like nothing.
