Hi ladies! I am really new to running. I am actually about 3/4 the way through couch to 5k. I have NEVER been a runner and am actually pretty overweight.
Over the last year I've lost about 65 pounds but have a ways to go. Anyway - my friend and I decided we'd try to do a 5k in February so I downloaded C25K and really do enjoy it. My problem is, I am really super slow. Like about a 15 minute mile. In my head I figured I'd not worry about the speed now, just try to get through the program and then spend some time working to shave off some minutes.
Is this wise? Or do I really need to worry about the speed now? Thanks!!

The best advice I got while doing the C25k program was to not worry about speed. Especially at the first spot where you have to run for a full 20 minutes, slowing it down will help you cross that milestone! Great work and keep at it! C25K is a great program.

Congrats on the weight loss and on almost finishing couch to 5K! I wouldn't worry about your speed right now, but would just focus on sticking with the plan and building up to a 5K distance. You're doing great!
Well done on the weight loss! Fantastic!! I've not done C25K, but I got back into running fairly recently and I always have a distance as my goal. Just completing the distance as the primary goal, then when that is comfortable, improve the speed. But like others have said, just get used to running frequently. Keep moving and your time will improve.
Congrats on your weight loss! I'll echo the advice of others - keep on keepin' on! This board is a huge source of motivation and advice. I've gleaned so much from everyone on this board.
