It is looking like I will DNS the Turkey Trot, but for a good reason. DH might get the opportunity to go into work earlier, so he can actually get home in time for some turkey day fun! Next up, is Myrtle Beach 1/2 in Feb. Seems so far away!
Training plan: M: spin class, 4 miles T: 7 miles treadmill, strength W: spin class Th-Su: no idea! I'd like to do a 10-12 long run

What are you training for? Date? I'm running a 10k on Thanksgiving morning, but I wouldn't say I'm training for it! Next up is the WDW half in January.
Training plan for the week?
M: 4 mi w/intervals T: strength class W: 3-4 miles easy, as long as it's not freezing rain outside Th: 10k F: not sure, maybe a couple of easy miles Sat: 8ish miles?
Any injuries, problems, or vents? My low back has been stiff and sore for a few weeks now. It sucks.
Highlights to share? On Saturday night I ran a 5k with DH and my 3-year old. He loved it.
What are you training for? Date? Jacksonville Bank half 12/28/13 and Town of Celebration Marathon 1/16/14
Training plan for the week? M: Legs & core T: 5 recovery miles + upper body W: 10 miles w/5 @ 15k-HM pace T: Traveling F: Hopefully the 12 miles I'm supposed to be doing on Thur. S: 5 miles S: 17 miles
Any injuries, problems, or vents? My left foot has been bugging me since my half, but not when I run. Noting too concerning, it's happened before, just annoying. My big gripe this week is training while traveling for the holidays. I have to move my 12 miler, and my 17 miler will have to be done after a full day of traveling on Sunday. If we get a late start, or if we get stuck in holiday traffic, it's all going to be messed up.
Highlights to share? So far, I think I'm rocking Pfitz 12/55. I'm loving the longer runs & the speed work built into them . Last week I had a 10 miler w/10x100s (afterwards I realized this was actually meant to be 8 miles...oops lol), an 11 miler, and 16 w/10 @ MP, and it felt fantastic. The 16 was tough because of insane wind, but I'm loving the double digit runs so much more than the silly 5-6 milers my Chicago schedule was filled with. Of course, I'm only in week 4, so we'll see if I'm still loving it 5-6 weeks from now.
I only have a 5K scheduled for January and I'm still on the fence about a Thanksgiving Turkey Trot. I might just sign up for one Thanksgiving morning, but given the weather outlook the next couple of days I might just bag it. I haven't planned out my spring racing calendar yet.
What are you training for? Date? RnR DC 3.15.14. Not *officially* starting training until next week, but I need to get my ass in gear.
Training plan for the week? M: Rest, T: looking like it will be lugging my turkey 1 mi, W: 45 min progression, weights, R: 60 min run, F: 45 min run + weights, S: 6-8 mi, S: rest/easy 45 min
Any injuries, problems, or vents? my motivation is low, particularly now that it's cold and rainy and gross.
Highlights to share? just getting back into the swing of things.

What are you training for? Date? A Thanksgiving day 4-miler, and a 1/1 5k.
Training plan for the week? Rest on Sunday, 2.25 miles last night, 1.75 miles tonight, DVD tomorrow, race on Thursday, DVD Friday, 5 miles on Sunday.
Any injuries, problems, or vents? Just that I had set a mileage goal for the month, but I had a stomach thing that kept me from running for like a week so I will REALY have to push myself this week to get enough mileage to make it. Also my phone died right before I hit 4 miles during my run on Saturday! And I still had 44% left when I hit 3.1 miles! I'm bummed to not really have an overall time/distance other than my estimate of the last bit. At least Runkeeper saved the data it did have. If someone doesn't get me the Garmin 220 for Christmas I'm getting it for myself, dammit.
Highlights to share? I ran by myself on Saturday because we were out of town visiting my ILs. I hit 3.1 miles at 43:30, which is a big record for me (I know I'm slow but it was the first time I've done it under 45 minutes, so I took a screenshot because I'm a dork, which is also how I know that I had 44% battery left then). I went about 4.25 miles, which was also a distance record for me.
What are you training for? Date? Tucson Marathon 12/8. Doing a turkey trot 10k on Thurs, too.
Training plan for the week? M: Masters + 10 + 1hr hot yoga T: 1 hr hot yoga W: Masters + 6 R: 10K race F: rest S & S: taking a weekend getaway - may get a short mountain run in. We plan to xc ski or snowshoe though.
Any injuries, problems, or vents? Just the taper madness. I told H yesterday that I was unsure about being able to finish this marathon and he just started laughing. I'm a freak. But really, what if I can't or I get a PW!?!

What are you training for? Date? Turkey Trot on Thursday (maybe) Run the Bluegrass Half 3/29/14
Training plan for the week? M - 3 mi run T - 3 mi run + strength W - rest - travelling through the Nor'easter. Yay. T - if we get to ILs, a 5K Turkey Trot F - 3-4mi, maybe, depending on what the roads are like S - travelling home S - not sure yet. maybe 5-6mi
Any injuries, problems, or vents? I am such a bum. I've really cut down since the 15K a few weeks ago to try to rest my IT band, and it feels like my body forgot how to run. 3 miles has felt like an eternity lately.
Highlights to share? I somehow managed to lose .3% body fat in the last month. I'm just glad to see some improvement with the changes I've been trying to make.
Question to anyone - how do you deal with acid reflux? I had a big resurgence since the day of my 15K, and it's been hard to kick. I've been taking Zantac, been careful about foods (though that doesn't typically trigger it). I'm OK during the day, but as soon as I start running, it kicks in. Suggestions?
What are you training for? Date? The last two races of cross season in 2 weeks.
Training plan for the week? Sunday: Cyclocross race Monday: 60 minute recovery ride Tuesday: 60 minute moderate ride Wed.: Off Thursday: 20-30 Mile road ride (depends on how cold it is) Friday: Off Sat.: Either 2-3 hour road ride or mtb ride Sun.: Either 2-3 hour road ride or mtb ride
Any injuries, problems, or vents? The continuing knee saga
Highlights to share? I had a good race on Sunday and stayed with a few people that I normally race with for more than half the race, which is something I haven't been able to do this year b/c of knee surgery.
What are you training for? Date? -Chattahoochee Challenge Half Ironman, 4/28/14 (yes, I'm starting early!)
Training plan for the week? - M/W - go to masters and take it easy. 2000m or so at each? Tue/Fri/Sun - trainer rides Thurs/Sat - Walk PT exercises every day
Any injuries, problems, or vents? - I'm still rehabbing and limited from my knee scope. I can swim, but no breaststroke (not that I'm broken up about that), ride my bike, and walk. So even though I'm 'starting' training, it's a limited start.
Highlights to share? - I am ahead of the curve in my recovery!
I told H yesterday that I was unsure about being able to finish this marathon and he just started laughing. I'm a freak. But really, what if I can't or I get a PW!?!
I say this with love, your taper is making you stupid. It's OK. It happens to all of us, but you have a bad case of the taper ridiculousness. You will not PW. You will NOT DNF (lol wtf??). You will PR. You will be fabulous, and when you cross the finish line, your brain will return. <3
What are you training for? Date? Hmm...I don't know! Running Tinkerbell half and 10K in January and Princess half in February.
Training plan for the week? M: Guts, Butts & More Tu: spin W: either spin or power toning (maybe both?) Th: Turkey Trot 5K (might run home for a total of about 6mi) F: maybe a short run? no classes that day Sa: body pump Su: rest
Any injuries, problems, or vents? Here's the thing...my Achilles? Still bugging me when I lift or do step. Weird and annoying. Also, last night I'm pretty sure I strained an ab muscle or something. Felt a weird twinge and then couldn't do ANYthing, not a push up, crunch, plank, nada. WTF?
Highlights to share? not really, but in a good way. I have been staying off the scale, but my clothes still fit, so that's good. I MISS RUNNING.
M: Rest and massage T: 2m/6x800/2m W: 9m Th: 4m recovery and stuffing my face F: rest S: 9m @ GMP S: 17 long
Any injuries, problems, or vents?
Still having some soreness in my quad but I think it's getting better. Didn't bother me too much on my long run Sunday. Also, I am really annoyed by the fact that the turkey trot where my in-laws live was this past weekend rather than on Thanksgiving and I probably would've gotten an age group award.
Highlights to share?
Really great weekend of running. I'm so enjoying the cold weather.
taratru, have you not decided on a back-up marathon?
Not yet. *sigh* I didn't want to subject you guys to any more whining about it. I feel bad about spending more money to travel...right now I'll either do Fargo (not sure now about the drive, since DH isn't thinking he would go with me), Toledo (surprisingly cheap, top to bottom) or :::gulp::: run the Colorado Marathon again. You know, my first one, that kicked my ASS. I'm such a headcase right now.

Ha! I love you for keeping my ass in check. Can we make a deal where I take you with me to big races so you can talk me off the ledge IRL? Can you imagine what is to come with TX looming, omgggggg!!! Must. Lock. It. Up.
No but really, I was about to order a taz tat but I have no idea what I should order it for? 4:00? 3:56? 4:29 ? I feel less prepared this time than last! But then, I never really feel ready when I have my best races! But the marathon humbles all! Oh God I'm rambling…it's happening again!!!!!

Whine away (heart) :drink:
What is it about the CO marathon? The elevation profile? Is it a descent? Please don't tell me it is identical to Tucson and it's a total bitch and I'm really in for it now.
Toledo is Glass City right? Flat and fast it looks like? Weather won't be too hot and humid by then (I don't think). Looks like a great option if you really don't want to do CO.

What are you training for? Date?
Apparently a Thanksgiving eat-a-thon
Training plan for the week?
M: sitting T: upper body weights (while sitting) W: knock the 80 year old off the arm cycle so I feel like I'm getting some cardio
R: drowning my sorrows in whipped cream and turkey dressing F: sitting with maybe a little whining thrown in S:Iron Bowl Saturday. Sitting, but with a purpose. And wine. S: sitting upper body again
Any injuries, problems, or vents?
I am not dealing very well with being unable to run or do any other real cardio for another 4 weeks. There have been tears of frustration. It is amazing to compare my 2 legs and see how much muscle mass I have lost in just 2 weeks.
Highlights to share?
I got a good report at the dr. this morning. I can start weaning myself off the crutches and take the boot off for some ankle strengthening exercises. And I am on track to get out of the boot the day after Christmas and start PT in the new year. Yay!
taratru, Toledo sounds like a good option! Colorado was downhill and shredded your quads, right? Am I remembering this race correctly? Really, the first one will always kick your ass, so I wouldn't think too much of it, but GRKaters ran it and had the same complaint, right?
kams, I will gladly talk you off of any crazy ledge. I will also coach the TX girls if need be, we've got you covered.
For the pace tats, I think it's best to go with the slower time (if you're talking about 4:00 vs 3:55 as an example)that you're pretty sure you can nail. For Surf City, I had a 3:50 tat, and it was nice to check in a see how many minutes I was ahead of it. I like to see how I'm overachieving rather than how I'm underachieving. lol
On the other hand, I was stuck with a 3:35 for Chicago, and in the early miles, it helped me reign myself in. I knew when I was 30 sec ahead of it, I needed to slow my ass down, because 3:35 was not the pace I was going to be running that day.
For the pace tats, I think it's best to go with the slower time (if you're talking about 4:00 vs 3:55 as an example)that you're pretty sure you can nail. I think this probably wasn't all that helpful.
No, this is helpful. The only problem is that I don't have any confidence that I can nail anything specific! Oi! I've sort of shelved my goals for this one, so ideally if I go with 4 and I know I'm behind it, I can still enjoy the race and let it go. I suppose it's the same as if I see the 4 pacer pass me.

OMG forget I asked about CO. I just looked up the elevation. Tucson is a more aggressive descent, like, to the tune of 2000ft. I knew it would be brutal - but it's all feeling very magnified today.
]What are you training for? Date?as of last night, the Heavenly Half on 2/9!!!!
]Training plan for the week? Vacation week! Spinx2 tomorrow, powersculpt/turkey trot/football Thursday, rest Friday, spin Sat! Really, just maintain and start doing runs >6 miles next month

The downhill wasn't bad, it was the last 6 miles of flat *after* 20 of downhill.
On reflection (and after a much better race), I think it had more to do with fueling and inexperience, but I'm still afraid of it, because I'm a psycho.

Oh gosh! I say go exact your revenge on it! The two hills at mile 13 and 23 of Tucson are making me shudder.

You're going to be AWESOME, because it's downhill the whole way. Don't worry.

Thank you . I know I will be in the shuttle bus in the dark, on my way up to the start line, wishing you were sitting next to me and keeping me calm like last time . Also, who will make fun of my sammiches?
As an aside, I love every time you post "Guts, Butts, and More," and I'm also sorry about your damn achilles
