I was going to try to be a reasonable person and wait awhile to announce, but I have SO MANY QUESTIONS and my doctor doesn't want to see me for another three weeks!
Looks like anna7602 and I will be close to due date twins. My best guess right now is 7/28 8/2.
Yayyyyyyyyyy! Congratulations! My doctor won't see me for another two weeks, so I feel your pain. There are online calculators that will tell you your due date based on LMP.
Are you telling family? DH and I decided NOT to tell anyone until after our first doctor's appointment. Getting through Thanksgiving week with my ILs will be so hard. I'm not sure I will be able to keep this to myself.

My first appointment is the day before I leave for Vegas for my mom's 60th birthday (I'll be eight weeks at that point). I don't see how I can be sober in Vegas for three days without copping to the reason, so I will tell my family then and H's right after (right around Christmas).
I'm not sure what to do with my friends. This is like the worst time of year to try and hide a pregnancy. We will be attending so many holiday parties, and I rarely turn down a drink. One of my questions for MMM is how to make it through holiday parties, because I don't necessarily want the whole world to know when I'm six weeks along!

Can you carry around a Z-pack with you and say "I'm on antibiotics for ___, I wish I could drink too!"
@redbellpeppers, my MO to fake people out is to grab a drink and then just have one tiny sip. If anyone notices I haven't finished it, I say it's my second or third drink already. Or, I make DH drink it when no one is really looking. If I can get my own drink away from curious eyes, I order something clear and fizzy like Sprite and say it's a vodka-something or other.
Telling people I am on antibiotics or hungover from the night before never, ever works. The times I've tried this, I was immediately called out.
He was still in bed yesterday morning. I woke him up and said "um...this stick says I'm pregnant." He opened his eyes and said "say what now?" LOL. I showed him the test. He said "that's funny, I didn't notice your boobs getting bigger." Don't worry Mr. P, I've got 36 more weeks for that to happen!
I have no real tips for how to handle the "I can't drink because..." I have one friend who would crack a beer, pretend to take a drink, walk into the bathroom, pour the beer out and then put the empty can in a beer coozie and "drink" from it all night. Seems like a lot of work...

This is what I was thinking. I hosted my Bible study group last night, and I think they're already on to me. I served a bottle of Apothic Red and didn't even pretend to drink any. (H suggested I drink red grape juice as a decoy, but I didn't have a chance to get to the store and honestly didn't care that much.) They kept talking about how good the wine was, and at one point I thought they were messing with me. LOL
I feel like it would be so much easier if I just told people. Keeping secrets stresses me out. But I know that the high miscarriage rate in the first trimester probably makes this a bad idea.

I got my BFP about a week before this time last year. Holiday parties were definitely the hardest! At my work holiday party I had a glass of wine and occasionally "sipped" it. Our party was at my boss' home, and when I went to the bathroom I carried my glass with me and poured a bit down the sink. lol
I also went to a get-together at a bar around 8 weeks and ordered a Sprite with a lime and asked the bartender to put it in a low ball glass so it looked like I was drinking vodka soda.
I found out I was pregnant the day before my 10 year law school reunion, which was supposed to be a drunk-fest. I faked most people out with a clear fizzy drink with a lime, but a few of my friends figured it out. I felt a little sick in the mornings, so I just pretended to be slightly hungover when we woke up.
My rule for early telling was to tell people whose support I would want and who I would feel safe/comfortable telling if something went wrong. I am pretty social and have a large circle, so this wasn't a tiny group. I am definitely still not "out" to many of our acquaintances and friends though. We are telling more extended family over Thanksgiving, but won't really open the gates until after next US and NT scan 12/18.
At a big charity event I was running, I had DH get me Sprites in short glasses with a lime. Nursed a few of those.
We have switched drinks a few times. Or poured wine and not really touched it, dumped some out, whatever.
I am such a big drinker, it is incredibly weird/obvious if I am not drinking and others are.
