So DH is a vegetarian that eats fish. So he wants to grill salmon at my parents on Thanksgiving. I forgot we needed to buy it (and Whole Foods is the only place he will get it from). It's 35 degrees and pouring. I've worked 10 hours and picked up J, now working on dinner. He passes the store on his way home.
I texted him earlier: I forgot we needed salmon for Thursday. I guess I'll have to go out when you get home... Reply?
REALLY?
Thanks, rant over! I know you all know what boneheads men can be!!!!
Eta: he came home and said, you know I should have just stopped on my way home. I'm so forgetful, you should have reminded me.
So he is out at the store getting salmon. Next time, I will gently remind him.
I've found that when dealing with men the best way is to just be direct. We had a similar situation involving a milkshake recently. Instead of me being passive in what I wanted, I should have asked him to go get it without fluff.
There's a male defective gene. I don't know when it comes out, maybe after puberty, or maybe once they have a ring on their finger. Men can be dense. You need to spell it out for them. Tell him to pick up the salmon on the way home oh and some hot cocoa while he's at it.
I would text him back and say "oh! I just remembered you pass the store on your way home, mind running in and getting it?" You need to be direct with men.
