Apparently the question of the day in the clinic across the hall is "You're not pregnant are you?". The doctor just asked a guy and was all "We have to ask everybody."

cuddlyevil I would have loved to see the look on that guys face. And the look on the nurses face when he said "yes" (because he totally should have done that).
How many calories is everyone aiming for and why? (if you guys don't mind me asking)
Oookay I'll track my calories. No exercise today though since we are running an 8am 8k tomorrow.
A turkey trot? Good luck!
Yeah we do it every year. Minus last year because we got back from Hawaii at 8pm the night before and I was sick as a dog. I love it - it's challenging, but we get really nice t-shirts and it's always a fun time. Our neighbor is going to run with us too.

He laughed. It was funny, they're doing x-rays today so they need to ask. But she's in a fiesty mood today so things like this are common, I just usually don't hear it.
I am aiming for 1520 calories a day per MFP. It's part of the plan that will get me to my goal weight by April 2014. If I go over it's not a huge deal as I am trying to workout every day so that helps.
(edit: Keep in mind I'm 5 feet tall and 190 pound. I'm very sedentary right now.)
That doesn't sound like a crazy amount to me at all--in fact, if you're sedentary that's probably around your maintenance calories. What are you aiming for a day?
I'm not counting calories (in fact, since I've lost weight in the first tri I'm trying to eat a lot!) but I'm sticking with my workout goals of at least 20 min. a day. So far I've met my goal every day for the last week! Okay, so today I really slacked off and sort of rolled around on a yoga mat for 20 minutes, but I say it counts.
I'm getting a prenatal workout video in the mail today! It features a 7 month pregnant gold medal Olympian. I hope I can keep up!

Way to go! I barely worked out when I was pregnant. Sooooo tired! I did eat really well, though.
I'm going to start at 1600 calories and see how it goes. I'll probably work my way to 1400, but no less. Seems to be my magic number from when I lost weight before.

I've never counted calories. It scares me.
I got up at my normal time and went to the gym even though I don't have to be at work until 1230. I am really tired today though so I just did a half hour walk and called it good.

It's a double-edged sword.
You feel proud because you know what you're consuming.
Then you feel terrified because you know what you're consuming. You will know exactly how many calories are in every little thing, how much sugar, etc. It makes you very aware and that could give you anxiety, or empowerment.

I might try it, but for now I'm just concentrating on getting up and exercising every day. I figure if I can get that to be a habit and less of a chore I'm doing not than I was.
I'm thinking about joining a gym. There's a $1 joining fee right now and it's only $20/month.
My core needs to be strong for the dance I'm doing, so I'm going to work on that these next couple of weeks.
Also, luckily my family makes a pretty healthy Thanksgiving meal. There's not a lot of fat in anything but the stuffing, which is loaded with Italian coldcuts. So I don't feel too badly about indulging.
There's a small gym space at my work. With some hand weights, balance ball, treadmill, bike, elliptical. Lockers and shower. Small tv if you want to bring in a video. Steps for aerobics.
Kick my ass so I start going after work. Because it's horrific. I get off at 4:30 or so every day, which is obscenely early. There's no excuse.

I will call you out Monday. Enjoy Thanksgiving first.

SOLD. I already have gym clothes in my office, too.
