Drinking isn't something that relaxes me. Even just a drink or sip is completely useless and brings me no pleasure. So I don't mind not drinking it at all. However smoking....that was hard to give up.

I took a few sips of H's beers here and there. It was always glorious and made me miss it more, so I usually regretted it. I like beer more than wine, but during pregnancy I craved wine all the time. My work baby shower was booze filled because that's just how they did things and I wanted a glass of wine so bad.
So far I've had 1/4 of a beer at a wedding, and then a full corona for my birthday. Normally I would be having sips of my husbands beers but he's on a diet and is only drinking red wine now and I don't like red wine.
Since I'm European I feel like I'm being uber cautious ha. I'm wondering if I'll have a drink a couple times over Christmas when I'm home for two weeks.
I don't really worry about it per se because I know there are no proven detrimental effects to having a drink while pregnant but its hard not to be paranoid when living in the US. People really frown upon it here it seems.

I do occasionally. I have about 4 times this pregnancy I think. At a couple of weddings, and girls nights. I saw a Sam Adams commercial last night and wanted a beer SO BAD. We have some in our fridge, but I already had heartburn, so I thought that would be a dumb idea.
I am pretty relaxed about it, I had a conversation with my ob and he made me feel that in moderation it isn't a big deal. I was even more relaxed while breastfeeding.
Who was it who went out with their H at like 35 weeks and ordered a glass of wine? I thought that was admirably ballsy. Was it you TrudyCampbell? Or maybe it was Beener?
I did! It was a super fancy restaurant and they helped me walk up the stairs because I was so pregnant and then I think I shocked them all by ordering a drink! I drank the whole glass but over 3 hours with a ton of food.

I did this a few times and no one gave it a second glance. Maybe I was living in a particularly liberal area. But I do think public attitudes are changing a little. I would have felt awkward ordering more than one (and I wouldn't have anyway), but I never felt like the pregnant drinking pariah.

We went out when I was overdue and I had a whole beer in public. I was like SCREW ANYONE who would say anything! This baby is cooked. lol.
I have no problems with drinking in moderation while pregnant. The only thing that stopped me from drinking was my anxiety level was already high and i didn't think drinking would help at all.
