I recently made an innocuous FB post about Thanksgiving prep and my SIL and brother made these responses:
SIL: Happy Thanksgiving! Being unable to eat most Thanksgiving foods I'm going to be a bit risky and eat pumpkin pie anyway and then regret it for the next three days. Other than that we don't really have the money for Thanksgiving.
Brother: We're going out for Mexican tonight as an early Thanksgiving. Our first Thanksgiving together was at Waffle House
Um, happy Thanksgiving to you too?
This is a common tone for them. How do you respond to people who seem to make it their goal to cast a pall of misery around them?
Ignore or delete. I am the quickest FB unfriend-er (like too quick - I am not friends with my BIL/SIL or brother anymore). I don't give any attention to it or otherwise I feel like the AW's put it out there 10x's more.

I roll my eyes and ignore. Some people can always have something to complain about. What's the statistic, if you slept in a bed with a roof over you head you are richer than 1/3 of the worlds population. I have a feeling they have more to be thankful for than they realize.
Oh, they actually LEFT them on your status? No!!!!!!
Yes, they left that on my status. I can understand if it had something like "How are you spending your Thanksgiving" or "how are your preparations going?" but yep, unsolicited.
