Since it is slow today, I will tell you my pathetic tale.
Just to set the stage, my day started with peeing out my butt at 5am. I got Viv ready, took her to school and I worked until 12. Then I went to my new house and had a mini breakdown not knowing where to start. It is so so so filthy. So I cleaned there until 230, then went and picked V up. Then back to the house for a little more work while trying to keep v from getting hurt.
Around 530, we headed to Home Depot. I had a 10% off coupon so I wanted to get everything in one go. We ordered 15 gallons of paint and then went to order carpet. The carpet guy said it would take at least 3 weeks. Mh was super mad bc we want to be in there in less than 2.
We go to get appliances and after an hour of picking everything out, we find the first available delivery day is in February. FEBRUARY. Oven, dishwasher, washer, dryer, refrigerator. Nothing til feb. There is a fridge there currently but like everything else, it's filthy. The other appliances are non-existant. So after a lot of debate, we agreed to it. I don't know what we're gonna do til February.
So 2.5 hours after we arrived, we go to pick up our paint and the 3 gallons for our entryway/hallway/front room is pink. Like hideous pink. Mh says we don't like it and do we have to take it and the guy basically says yes. That was it for me. I started crying in Home Depot. The poor guy said since we bought so much other paint, he would eat the cost.
So $5k later, I don't know when we are moving in and we don't have paint for those areas, or any appliances. But at least I didn't have to pay for the pink paint! And I saved $96 with the coupon.
I'm sorry. That sounds like not a fun trip. I would call after the holiday weekend and see if you can get the delivery date moved up. That seems like a ridiculously long time.

That is so stressful. It's not an option to get the appliances somewhere else? I'm sorry you were upset, but at least your tears got you out of the pink paint.
I'm so sorry. Moving and dealing with all the stuff you are is so stressful. We moved and did a major renovation when I was 8 months with E. Could you go to a different appliance store? We didn't have any luck with Home Depot either, but found a smaller store that just did appliances. They were able to get us what we wanted and could deliver faster. I'm glad they took the paint back and I hope this gets easier!
I'm guessing you wanted to to appliances through HD because of your coupon? I find that this time of year the stores that do mostly just appliances/furniture and appliances put on good deals, especially if you keep an eye on the flyers and find somewhere that matches prices. You may be able to get them soon, and for less money!
Get your appliances elsewhere. You can negotiate a better price than the coupon.
This too. I think we bought our appliances in late Dec. and we got better deals with the smaller store than I could have gotten at Home Depot or Lowe's at the time.

The reason we went with them is they had an additional $300 off and then 24 months 0% financing. The financing is what's killing me. It's tough to put out $4k all at once right now. I will look into other places though. Thanks.

Sorry, spaghetti, that sounds horribly stressful. It sucks right now, but keep your eye on the prize... a beautiful house awaits you, even if it will be until February. Once everything is there and in place, you will hardly remember this piece of the puzzle! Calming thoughts for you.

I would still shop around in the meantime. A lot of big retailers offer financing and will likely meet the price or more. Perhaps places you already have credit at like best buy or hh greg. Try for free shipping too or a heavier discount to make up for it. You can get a lot off of appliances. You have your order in so continue to shop around this weekend and cancel if you get a better deal and quicker delivery
This is why you shop at Lowe's Anyways, Lowe's will honor that 10% off coupon, they don't force you to take incorrectly tinted paint, and they aren't generally assholes. I can't imagine what is going on with their deliveries that they are booked until February. Also, I'm sorry things were so rough and that everything was just crazy. Shopping for home stuff is hard
I will give them a try, thanks. My bil and aunt work at HD and my mom used to work there.
Uggggh! That is wayyyy much crap to deal with. I'd be weeping too.
When we were looking for appliances, we went with Sears (Kenmore, FTW!). HD and Best Buy's prices were ridiculous (I'm not sure about Lowes) and Sears had good financing as well. If you can wait for a few weeks, try the after-Christmas clearance sales... you might come up with gold.
I second the cleaning service. It saved my sanity when we were moving house while I was pregnant.
I'm sorry. What color was the paint supposed to be? I agree, find appliances elsewhere. Especially now, there are a lot of places that will likely have financing with 0 down.

Oh my god, reading that made me want to cry for you. I'm so sorry, honey, that is overwhelming. I hope there's a solution you can live with, because I'd hate to see you be in limbo like this until February. Big, BIG hugs and if there is anything at all we can do to help, please let me know.
