I wish I knew how relatively "easy" newborns are, I would have appreciated it more the first time around. Once they're mobile it's all over. Despite DS needing to eat every 2-3 hours, it's his older sister currently driving me nuts, lol.
She starts back on her regular school schedule this week which should help burn some of her excess energy off. DH goes back to work though, so it'll be my first week alone with both of them. May God have mercy on my soul
When did everyone put on the weight in the pregnancy? I am at almost 5 months and according to the dr's scale, I'm just now back at my pre-pregnancy weight. I lost about 8lbs in the first 9 weeks of being pregnant. I swore I had put on more weight because I feel like I've grown a lot. So I'm wondering if I'm losing muscle weight or something because normally between my boobs, blood volume, and the baby, I should weigh more unless I've lost muscle mass. When did you really start putting on weight?
I'm 14 weeks and I am 5 lbs lighter then the day I found out and I'm starting to get a fairly obvious bump. But then again I lost 10-12 lbs during week 6-7 so I'm not at all surprised that I haven't gained much weight. I'm never hungry so I have to force myself to eat, otherwise the nausea comes back.

I gained 5lbs up to week 21, then another 13 between weeks 22 and 33. I didn't gain anything the last 6 weeks. I had lots of food aversions and got full so quickly. Even though I felt huge, looking back I really wasn't eating as much as I thought I was eating.
My pre-preg weight was 200 lbs (so BMI obese) and I gained 40lbs which was considered too much. Day after giving birth i Had only lost 13 lbs and i was freaking at how much I had to lose. However, 3 weeks after that I was back at my pre-preg weight (though a little "looser" in the torso, with some bonus stretchmarks).
Point being, I wouldn't worry about weight gain too much. As long as you're eating normally, a lot could be water retention, blood, placenta etc and you will likely adjust quite quickly after giving birth!

The whole thing messes with you. I gave up looking at the last few appointments, but would estimate I was up about 40 pounds? My doctor was cool about it, and the nurse basically said that, while they recommend 25-35 pounds, they don 't draw out if you gain 50 or so. But it has been very hard for me to deal with the emotional and physical effects of it. I don't plan to step on the scale for a while-- at least a month if I can avoid it. I am putting enough pressure on myself right now to learn to take care of E, so I don 't need to add body image issues to the mix.

I didn't really put on much weight during the first half...maybe 5 lbs? Now at 28+ weeks, I'm up a solid 10-15, so it's definitely picked up in the last few weeks for me.
Just to ease some of your minds, possibly. The amount of weight gained during pregnancy doesn't have to mean a thing. I gained a LOT. According to those stupid apps too much. I was back at pre-pregnancy weight within a week after DD was born, only about 2 lbs over about 8 hours after delivery. My humongous gain was all baby, placenta and a lot of amniotic fluid. The huge belly made my regular walking (which wasn't much) into real exercise, which means I burned and lost fat during pregnancy. My being swollen prevented me from seeing that my butt and legs got thinner (seriously, I need belts around pre-preg jeans that were hard to button before).
So don't diet, don't worry, don't freak out about weight gain. As long as you eat reasonably healthy and keep somewhat active, your body is doing what it needs to. You're growing a human, don't let the scale bring you down. (Unless your doc is seriously worried, that is, otherwise, just enjoy not having to care about your weight!)
My doctor told me they like to see an average gain of 2-4 pounds per month. I started heavier than I would have liked at 166, so I don't know if that was based on my BMI (which I think was around 30) or just their general preference. At my 16 week appointment, I was up 8 pounds (average of 2 per month) - so right on track per their suggestion. I go in again tomorrow and I'll be 20 weeks 5 days. I weigh myself every morning and I am up about 11 pounds total I think based on what I ate the night before and if it made me hold more water. So I think I gained an additional 3-4 pounds this month; still on track.
I am monitoring it more closely than I did with ds because with him I gained 50 pounds and it was not easy to lose. I lost about 20 of it quickly, another 10 by about the 2.5 year mark and then another 10 when he was 3.5 and I went through my divorce.

Week 30 I finally had a weigh-in that went from +1lb (28 weeks) to +4. From there I slowly kept gaining. I didn't lose weight during pregnancy or have any MS so I don't know what took so long, but I definitely was getting bigger well before then.
