I know we talk about this every few weeks...
From Nov 1 - Nov 19 I gained 6lbs. Nov 19 - today I've gained another 5lbs.
I mentioned the 6lb weight gain to my Dr, and he literally laughed at me. He said he would only be concerned if it was 6lbs in a week. My only real concern is that I'm not at the top end of what is considered a "healthy" weight gain for someone that was at my pre-preg weight/BMI... and I'm the only one concerned about this - my weight has never been mentioned at any Dr. appt, and no one has ever said anything. (I've gained 35lbs)
I just keep worrying the more I gain, the more I have to lose... It's just such a mind game.
I don't feel like I'm eating badly; I drink a ton of milk, and chocolate milk, and have orange juice every morning - all of which have a lot of sugar. But besides that, I drink mostly water. I haven't been eating candy, or cookies, or a lot of junk.
Plus, I'm just done with this whole thing. This is going to be a LONG 5 weeks.
I'm not looking for any kind of anything here, just whining.
Your appetite will probably start to slow down soon. Mine finally did. I am holding steady at 33ibs. It does suck to see the scale go up, but there's nothing to be done at this point. Eat healthy and eat when you are hungry. I also had a huge jump at one point and freaked out, luckily the doctor wasn't worried. Also, depending on when you get weighed your weight will fluctuate. I hate the stretch marks way more than I hate the weight gain!

I agree with vmars. I hardly can eat anything right now, there's just no room LOL. I've been staying around 30lbs. If your really worried maybe cut out the sugarary drinks for the next couple of weeks and see how you do.
I've been trying to keep this in mind as well. I gained 13 pounds total over the course if months 6 & 7, and I really mentally struggled over it. Though it seems to have tapered off to about a pound a week at my last couple appointments, it still sucks to see the scale climb, because I know it's that much I have to lose. Plus, I was about 15 pounds heavier than I wanted to be before I got pregnant.
My midwife however isnt concerned. I'm up about 26 pounds at 32 weeks, and she says my body is going to do what it needs to do.
Are you having a lot of swelling? My feet are ridiculously huge, and actually it's not just my feet and ankles, it seems to go up my legs.
Think about how much of the extra weight is water weight. You can't gain 6lbs of fat THAT quickly, however you can gain a lot of water weight quickly.
A lot of the weight will disappear quickly - the baby, amniotic fluid, placenta, and then my MW said that I would be peeing out all of the fluid I'm retaining in swelling too!
I have so much swelling tooā¦.I am def. hoping that accounts for a few ibs. Some days I have no knees & ankles lol. It's very sad.

My fingers get swollen at night & when we go for a walk- otherwise they are relatively normal. My feet get swollen occasionally. It has occurred to me that it could be water weight..
I gained 40lbs with my first and I'm only 5'1. A lot of it was fluid retention, especially towards the end (I even had to buy bigger shoes). I know everybody is different, but I really didn't have any trouble losing it. I do think breast feeding helps, if you want to/are able to.

I gained 40 lbs with my DD. By 6-7 months postpartum, I had lost 55 (thank you, breastfeeding).
I have gained 35 lbs so far with this one, and I seem to be doing the 1ish pound a week thing now, so I am on track to gain the same amount this time. I made a conscious effort to be more active and eat healthier during this pregnancy, and I'm at the same point, almost down to the pound.
My OB has never said anything about my weight gain, FWIW.
I had gained 45 lbs at 36 weeks and have stayed there for the past week and a half. My appetite doesn't seem to be any less, but maybe I am eating less or something. Any time I ask the doctor or midwide about my weight they say it's fine, so I just remind myself that if they aren't worried I shouldn't worry.
Do you weigh yourselves at the same time every day to determine a pattern of weight gain? So far I can't find a pattern even if I weigh first thing in the morning. I think eating and bowel movements are too inconsistent for me to know what my "baseline" is. I definitely have already gained weight but depending on the time I get on the scale it could look like 2 lbs or 6 lbs.
I usually weigh as soon as I wake up, after I pee.
My SIL and CW were both very athletic and lean - they each gained 40 pounds and lost it easily. I know you have a lean athletic build too - your body probably just had to add a little more padding. Don't fret
I'm up about 22 pounds at 32 weeks. I have an athletic build but I'm also a little curvy. So I don't think I should gain more than 35 pounds (and probably should gain less). And you know I had a couple spikes in there. Also, you may even lose weight at the end or stop gaining -- it's very common.
I gained all twenty pounds in the last ten weeks. Don't think of it as the more you gain the more you have to lose right now. It's true obviously, but you might end up surprised at how losing it goes. I'm 3.5 weeks pp and I'm below my first appointment weight, which I was surprised as hell about. Granted I look nothing like I did, but I think between being all over the house with HJ walking around and breastfeeding it has helped. I'm aware this isn't the norm, but it doesn't mean you won't be surprised by the process of getting back to your starting point. Just eat healthy (and indulge in cravings when they come) and enjoy the end of your pregnancy as much as possible!
J, I know this whole weight gain thing is a major mindfuck but seriously you look great. If it makes you feel any better to hear another anecdote, my weight gain slowed significantly in the last five weeks.
Seriously, looking at the photos of you, you look fantastic and have nothing at all to worry about.
+1 on that.
It's seems to be all in your belly, and that's a lot of fluid, etc. that will go away at delivery anyway. I wouldn't worry about the numbers. You're not in the excessive gain range.

How's your little man doing? How's big sister adjusting?

Get the fuck outta here! Lucky!
I have no idea how much I weigh, because I haven't had my 6 week appointment yet (it was cancelled on Friday). But I still look 4ish months pregnant...but I also have been eating a ton while out on "maternity leave."

Oh I still look pregnant thanks to the cute little belly I still have trying to figure out where to go, but pounds wise it's gone. I hopped on the scale last week to weigh HJ and the only way I could figure out how to do it was to weigh myself and then weigh both of us and subtract.

Apparently, my hips, thighs and ass have gotten bigger, because I cannot fit into my pre-pregnancy jeans especially in that particular area.

I was warned about that so I tried in half-heartedly once and put back on my maternity pants. They came in handy for Thanksgiving!
When did everyone put on the weight in the pregnancy? I am at almost 5 months and according to the dr's scale, I'm just now back at my pre-pregnancy weight. I lost about 8lbs in the first 9 weeks of being pregnant. I swore I had put on more weight because I feel like I've grown a lot. So I'm wondering if I'm losing muscle weight or something because normally between my boobs, blood volume, and the baby, I should weigh more unless I've lost muscle mass. When did you really start putting on weight?

I think this is going to vary a lot. I never had any morning sickness, or serious food aversions - nothing kept me from eating. I never lost weight. I've gained weight continuously through out the entire pregnancy. November I had the biggest gain of all; but prior to that I was gaining 4lbs/mth pretty consistently.

I'm 32 weeks in and haven't put any weight on. I lost at first as well due to nausea and aversions, then got bronchitis, and by the time I was finally able to eat again I was diagnosed with GD and had to go on a special diet. I look very obviously pregnant and the baby's weight is on track. The Dr. has told me that he has zero concerns about the lack of gain. He said that the baby will still get what he needs and there is less to lose after. Just trust your body to do what it needs, and try not to worry about your weight gain whether it's high or low.
