I honestly (seriously) do not understand negative degrees. How does anyone function in that? Why do we start with 0 if the temperature often goes below? And, why isn't America on the freakin' metric system like the REST OF THE WORLD?
'Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body. But rather, to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, wine in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, screaming 'Woohoo! What a ride!' So every day is a holiday and every meal a feast."

Anything below 32F would negative if we used celcius instead. Although setting the system 0 to the freezing point of water seems a lot less arbitrary.
Don't you live in Texas or something? That is nuts.
Related: do not miss WI winter one iota. I <3 NM.
Ha! No, I live in Colorado. But I live in the part of Colorado that is NEVER that cold.
Ok, that is less insane!
I remember a few years ago I had to go to Denver for a conference. This was when I was still in Wisconsin, so I thought "yay! A week of mild weather, what a delightful treat!"
No. It was 5 below the entire freaking time, except for the day that it snowed like a foot. Jerks.

I guess I didn't say that quite right - I understand it (though still think the Metric system makes much more sense), I just can't comprehend it. I basically shut down and hibernate at anything less than 40, I can't imagine 0. Or going even further below it. Yikes.
