I'm in the process of looking over resumes to find my replacement. I've done a small resume review in the past, but we put the listing on Monster so I'm going through a ton and O.M.G.
One girl sent a resume that was 6 pages long - including her "testionials" from LinkedIn. Bizarre.
One girl didn't capitalize a single word on the resume. You are not kate spade. You are not. Capitalize words, people!!
One girl put that her objective is to help children succeed. Umm....I see no children here at this office.
It's like trying to find a needle in a haystack, I swear.
I had to look over a bunch of resumes the other day since we are hiring for the fall. It was kind of a riot. I love reading all the things that are obvious exaggerations of their skills. "I volunteered for two days at an inner-city school so now I'm an expert on urban education." "I took a course in Calculus for Dummies and earned a C so now I'm qualified to teach upper-level math courses." Um, no, no you are not.

What about pictures? have you guys seen any with pictures?
I read an article the other day about what not to put in your resume. Every single thing they said was completley obvious to me and I couldn't believe that people actually do it. Now I can!
There are a ton of qualified people without work. Whether or not they can showcase that they're qualified is another matter.
I agree. It's almost sad because some of them list really good qualifications and then they put something like:
Objective: I am a hightly motivated, dedicated and ambitious Payroll Coordinator.
Well, that's awesome, but that's not an objective. I could NOT do this for a full time job.
I also have guilt when I put one in the no stack. My boss wants someone with a degree and every non-degree person I move over I worry about their kids and what not. I don't even know if they have kids!
