I got a BFP last night so I guess I've caught the pregnants It's a "surprise" but I'm pretty excited. I am 4w5days. Here's a big question - it's my annual girls' ski trip this weekend and it will be REALLY obvious if I'm not drinking (I don't want to tell anyone yet, for the obvious reasons and also one friend and her H have been trying for a year to get pregnant, so I want to be sensitive to that). Any ideas? We usually drink a lot of wine, though I could probably get away with a "mixed drink"...
@abbycobb- I'll ask my doctor, for sure (I didn't buy insurance for my season pass, so I hope I can ski for at least the first tri), but I was skiing over Thanksgiving before I tested so I'm comfortable that I'll be OK for the weekend. I don't do cliffs or moguls or any of that stuff and I ski carefully to avoid falling on a "normal" day.
Congrats! I did a lot of fake drinking early on. When people are drunk, they really don't pay attention. At parties, I nursed half a glass of wine that I would put to my lips every once in a while and not sip. At bars, I ordered soda with lime but made sure to ask the bartender to put it in a cocktail glass, not a big pint glass with a straw (dead giveaway).
Congrats and welcome! I also did a lot of "mixed drinks" before we told people...usually club soda with lime or a splash of cranberry juice. Ditto PP about asking the bartender put it in a cocktail glass if you're at a restaurant or bar! The first time we went out with friends after finding out I was pregnant, I ordered a club soda with cran and it came in a gigantic plastic 32oz cup. People were like, WTF are you drinking?
I would fake drink -- cranberry and sprite with a lime can be a vodka cran, for example. My friends would totally call me out if I didn't drink for an entire weekend and the gossip would spread like wildfire.
Congrats! In all the books I've read it's perfectly fine to ski during the first tri. So no worries! Also I got caught right away with friends when I didn't drink, excuses only raise suspicion so try the fake drinks or sips of wine (and honestly a little wine won't be bad). Have fun on your girsl weekend!!

I agree with the other girls, fake drinking is better then an excuse. Friends get suspicious when you use excuses, especially if they know you really well. I would go with the fake mixed drinks, or a can of beer, you can't see how much is gone in the can...then just dump out in sink when no one is looking or in bathroom.
