Henry has been tapping his butt & saying "poops" for about a month. When he does, we walk to the potty chair & put him on it. Sometimes its too late, sometimes he just sits there & doesn't go, but there has been probably a dozen times that he does poop on the potty. He also confuses real poop with just farts, but it's a good start, I think.
When he does go on the potty, we make a HUGE deal (clapping, hugs) & give 3 M&Ms as a reward.
DD tells us she is pooping, but it's always when she is going or after. I will just ask her about it and say okay. I am not ready to start anything more.
They "practice" at daycare - basically put them on the seat for a while. So far nothing has happened that I know of.

M does this. Its hilarious when I fart and she say's "momma, poop?".
If you want to potty train now, don't be scared! It's really not a huge deal and overall much less work/mess. G has been in training pants for over a month and we typically have 1-2 pee accidents a day. But I bought nice training pants which catch the accidents so haven't had to deal with puddles and don't worry about her sitting on furniture. No poop accidents, FX that trend continues.
V also says pee-pee and poo-poo and points to her dipe. We got her a potty and a toilet ring and she likes to sit on them but hasn't actually done anything yet. I'd like it if she waits another year at least before we have to deal with this!
We've only just started working on verbalizing it, and when I go to the bathroom I'll talk to him about it so he realizes it doesn't just happen in diapers. When he starts to get more focused on talking about it when it happens, I'll break out the potty and sit him on it when he talks about it and after the fact.
I'm jealous of all you people w the more concrete signs.
The boys will nod yes if they poop and I ask and will laugh/make a face when they're about to pee naked (it's fun to pee ON things), but no words for anything yet.
I'd much much rather deal w PT'ing now and get it over with than wait I am sick of diapers. I DO think based on their small cues that we will be able to start around 2 in a slow-and-steady way but not before then.
