We're having a dirty Santa gift exchange at work and I'm at a loss at what to bring. I'm pretty sure most people are going to run to the PX and grab whatever B&BW item they have since our options are so limited. I was thinking of baking a cake or cupcakes, throwing in some cute cupcake liners, sprinkles, cookie cutters, whatever else I can find and making a few homemade coffee syrups. I sell my cakes when I have the time, so they aren't just some box mix in a sheet pan. Since we aren't buying for a specific person, I need something sort of general. Work is a small, professional office with 11 women, ages range from early 20s-50. Is this a good idea? Have a better one??
Right!?! I don't know why they are calling it dirty Santa! Apparently it's "dirty" because you can steal other peoples gifts and whatnot, no booby cupcakes necessary. We just call it the gift exchange game in my family. The look on the sweet old Korean ladies face when the manager called it that was priceless.
The only concern I would have is that sometimes the gifts get jostled around during a dirty santa/gift stealing gift exchange. I'd worry that your cupcakes might end up mooshed together, all stuck to the side of the box...
That would be the only reason I'd second guess doing them, though. If you have some way to securely contain them, then go for it!
