A stuffed elf? No. A elf on the shelf? No. A elf ornament? No. A elf movie? No.
A real elf from the North Pole? Yes! This is what the child is stating she wants to request in her letter to Santa tonight. What happened to play dough ice cream set maker??

I keep practicing my story, it needs to be billet proof and defy almost 5 year old logic... "Santa doesn't let the elves leave the North Pole". Then will come all the "whys". I think we are seeing Santa Sunday. Hopefully she will move on to something new, and available at Target.

They lose their magic when they leave the north pole and that would make them sad?

Lol. Whenever H thinks of asking for something unattainable I say something along the lines of "Santa doesn't bring things that he knows wouldn't be a good fit for our home" (a dog, a pony, an elf, etc). And always emphasize that Santa doesn't bring everything you ask for. Instead, we ask Santa for several things sohe has a choice.
The year he asked Santa for a real robot (like a day before Christmas when he had previously never mentioned robots at all), I found a small toy robot to put in his stocking with a note saying something like "I'm sorry a robot wouldn't be a good fit in your house, but hopefully you love this toy robot that I had made specially for you" or something. That worked
We are seeing Santa this afternoon. Considering I have already purchased all of his gifts I am a wee bit scared.
