My baby is riding the school bus for the first time today. I just wish he had a familiar face with him on the bus and at his new preschool. He toured the preschool with H, we saw the bus and the carseats, he meet the new teacher twice. We have a little book we have been reading that has pictures of everything. They went to the Pedi which is by the new school and he even said daddy, new school.
I just wish it wasn't a 35 min bus ride on the highway.
I will chant, it will only help him while I cry today. Teachers at both schools are going to hate me this week with the phone calls.
Emerson Kate, born 38w5d on 4/6/12 at 6:02 p.m., 5 lbs 13 oz and 18 3/4 inches. Lucas Matthew, born 39w5d on 4/11/14 at 8:20 a.m., 7 lbs 4 oz and 20 inches.
I just reminded him he's going to ride the school bus today. His answer: How about green car? He's never been in another vehicle.
Would it be all kinds of terrible if I leave before the school bus arrives? The teachers will put him on and take him off.
I don't think it would be terrible. For X he usually does better with things like that if I'm not there. If he sees me he cries and wants me. If he's with his teachers he does much better. Does he know his teachers well?
Our first ones are so close in age, I can totally imagine how you are feeling. I would be calling too. Heck I would get her a cell phone so she could talk to me the whole time. I feel you.
He will do great, hugs! It's totally ok to call and check in on him especially the first week. Crap, I still call after she goes back to school from being sick.
Update: The only tears today were mine! I cried dropping him off. I got a call from the director, she put him on the bus today. She said he was given a two minute warning to finish up breakfast and wash hands. He went right to the door. She said he put on his coat and his backpack (which is amazing because he wouldn't put it on for me) and walked out holding hands with the other little boy from a different class. She said he got really excited to see the bus, went right in and was smiling.
At least I'm sure they would tell me if he pitched a fit, right? She did say the big test will be on Thursday once he realizes where he's going.
I will get a call from his new preschool teacher at some point today, most likely after her classes are done.
