I'm still holding on to hope of getting a nice dslr for Christmas. I know cameras have been discussed before but searching in the app on my phone sucks.
Is the Canon Rebel t3 worth getting? I know there is the 3i and 4 now, but the t3 is the only one in my possible budget.
I need to try to keep it as close to $ 300 as possible. I'm open to recommendations in that piece range.
Will you use it a lot? My problem is I bought this expensive camera and use it next to never. Its saved us money on hiring photographers and I've gotten a few really quality pictures but it is not realistic for me, personally, to carry around a DSLR on a daily basis. That said, I have the cannon rebel and like it but it's not my go-to for everyday which is what I thought I'd use it for.

I think I'll use it as much as I use my camera, so usually on a weekly basis.
My other reason is once we move to Iceland the opportunity to get an affordable camera goes out the window. I don't know when we'll next take a trip to the states with money to spend on a camera. I figure if we spend it now, we will replace it before we move. Dh is of the mind that we should have more money and buy more things when there; I'm more comfortable having stuff that won't need to be replaced and not spending it when we get there.
We have a Canon Rebel - I'm not sure which one it is off hand as we bought it 2 years ago.
I love it. I enjoy the fact taht I can use it as a point and shoot but that I am able to learn with it to do a bit more than that.
As eav@c said, the only problem is that it is hard to carry around all the time due to its size. So I tend to use it when we are going particularly photogenic places or when we are having a day in the garden or something like that. So I get some lovely photos on those days.
That is what I want it for, really. My current camera has pretty poor quality in comparison and I like making photo gifts.

Awesome! Dh agreed!
I'm going to get one that is compatible with the one the ils have so we can all share lenses. Will save a lot that way in the long run since they treat themselves to fancy things regularly.
