I've been working at my company for along time. Through the hard and good times. Now is a really good time and I have been told that I will get a raise when things are back in order. Well I've been patient and now want a raise. Any advice on how to go about asking for one. I've never done it before. I work for a very small company 3 people including myself.
When was the last time you got a raise? What is the going rate in your area for someone in your field with your experience? What new responsibilities have you taken on since your last raise? How has your job description changed? How have your evaluations gone?
Don't feel weird about bringing it up. If they have brought it up before, they know you deserve it. Good luck!

Good luck! Knowing the going rate for your profession (there are a few sites online that can help you figure that out), and what you want your raise to be is a good place to start.
Really, you just need data to back up your argument.
Echoing ps - have evidence to prove that you deserve a raise. You can try salary.com to get a good idea of market median in your area. Job responsibility changes. If you have copies of good evals, bring them. If you have email/hard proof of promise of a raise, print that shit out and bring it.
You can do it! I haven't done this before and would also be really tentative. Take a deep breath - you know you deserve this, so go get it!
