Hi. I have questions. So Lou went back to the dr and I got a machine now. First he got the inhaler (the purple thing), and now this black machine. Is this what you got too? What was the diagnosis for the neubilizer you got? Thanks in advance! Was it RSV?
When Brady had a bad upper respiratory infection I. April or may the respiratory therapist said the inhaler with the spacer is just as effective as the nebulizer.

Yeah he actually will sit for the nebulizer but won't let the spacer by his mouth.
This last time she had RSV and I literally took her in 3xs in one week. Her wheezing and coughing got worse even after an increase of the steroid inhaler along with the albuterol inhaler which looks like what you got to use for spacer.
Since that didn't work we got a nebulizer on the 3rd visit along with a liquid steroid. The nebizer really worker for the wheezing finally. We also now have to do a steroid treatment through the winter so hopefully it lessens her chance of wheezing. we do it 2x a day. Albuterol as needed if her cough flares.
There have been times where I have hold her down while H puts the spacer over her mouth. It sucked but we had to do it.

Yes I got the liquid.
So it was RSV? Damn. Poor baby, a steroid too? I'll ask about that if he doesn't show any progress.
The wheezing scares me. He has a hard time breathing and then pukes. Thursday will be the third time I will be at the pedi this week. They want to check him again.

Hope he feels better!
Also... She has had RSV more then once? Last year and this year?
Yes she has had RSV more than once but this last time was the worst with wheezing not improving. I'm glad they are having you come back to check it! Hang in there, may take trying a couple things before he starts getting better. But nebulizer is a good treatment.

Thanks!
When we were in the er I think we had three follow ups to make sure he was improving. We got a steroid as well

How long was Brady sick for with this?

I think 10 days. But on the last days I just gave the inhaler morning and night. I'm asthmatic and he's had to use his inhaler two other bad colds but no steroids those times

We had good luck with the spacer in the middle of the night. He would wake up coughing and wheezing and it was a quick fix while he was half asleep. Plus, it's good if the start screaming a little. It helps the meds really get into his lungs.
