Doctor said everything looked good even though I won't get the official results for a week. Baby was super squirmy for the tech but it was awesome to see it again. I'll probably tell my manager at work since I feel more comfortable now and a bit less anxious.
Nice baby! We had our NT scan last week, and seeing the blob actually look like a baby this time was amazing! Plus it was just insane to see it move around like a little person. ha ha.
jjwritergirl, the NT scan involves an ultrasound and bloodwork. The ultrasound measures different parts of the baby's physical features, including the neck, to determine if there is an elevated risk for Down Syndrome and some other chromosomal issues. The doctor goes over your ultrasound results along with the bloodwork and then says whether there is a higher or lower odds for your age that your baby has issues. It doesn't definitively say whether there are problems, but if your results come back with, say, a 1 in 12,000 chance of having Down Syndrome, the doctor will explain that that is extremely slim odds and you should be OK. If there are red flags in your NT scan, some women will go on to do an amniocentisis. Someone with more detailed info can chime in, but I think that's the general gist. I got it done at 12ish weeks.
