@sprinkles What directions did you follow for your Santa ornament? I've seen two different ones, one you bake, and one you don't. What did you do? And what kind of paint? Just regular Tempura? Did you seal it with anything?
We baked it. 200 degrees for 3 hours. Turned out perfect! The back was very very slightly squishy yet, so it could have stayed in for another 20 minutes or so, but it wasn't falling apart or anything. I just didnt want it turning brown. And actually, I just looked at it again and the back is completely hard and dry now, so its fine!
Yep I used regular paint. I didn't seal it. I probably should though.
Thanks! I am going to try this as the activity for J and the little girl I nanny next week. I think I am just going to do the hand prints and bake at her house, and then paint them at home. I wonder if clear spray paint will be enough to seal it.
@dragonmommy422, I'm totally butting in here! We did these last year and they took a lot longer to bake/dry out than I thought they would (like, 3 or 4 hours plus time out of the oven), and I sealed them with some thinned out Elmers craft glue since I couldn't get my hands on anything fancy. Might want to test the sealer first though, just to make sure it doesn't smear the Santa paint!
