I just got off the phone with 911. A strange man just knocked at my door claiming he used to live here.he described the layout of my house and was trying to peer past me into the living room. he honestly seemed a little unbalanced to me. He asked if he could go look around our fenced backyard which I said no to, then rode off on a bike. In Michigan. In December. I called nonemergency police and they advised me to call 911. H is working nights right now so I'm kinda freaking out.
OMG, I never open my door to people I don't know. I shout through the window.
Ironically I usually don't even go so far as yelling out the window but I'm expecting some packages today andjust opened without thinking. The storm door was still locked though and we spoke through that.
I think you handled it well too. Chances are he is just mentally ill and maybe really did live there, but you can never be too careful with this kind of stuff.
Yikes. Good thinking on your part. Keep your doors and windows locked, but try not to be too paranoid. Easier said than done, I know.
Yeah I'm totally a freak about everything being locked. I constantly accidentally lock h out of the house because shutting and then locking all doors is so ingrained.
I totally forgot this! before he rode off he said he'd be back with a picture of what the house used to look like. and I was really cold/detached with him, so it wasn't like I acted interested. So creepy. This social phobe introvert who hates this house ANYWAY is not interested!
Wow... at least when the people that used to live in my house did the creepy multiple drive by thing DH was home and went out and spoke with them. And they weren't creepy - just acting that way. I hope he doesn't really come back, but keep that phone handy!
That's crazy. You did the right thing in calling 911. He's probably mentally disturbed or he could even have Alzheimer's or something.
I never open the door for someone I don't know or if I'm not 110% sure they are affiliated with a business or solicitation group.
I seriously never open the door. It was a freak occurrence due to incoming packages, the lights on our front door, and being embarrassed that everyone thinks I'm nuts because I never open the door due to apparently justified paranoia. At least I can tell them I was right?
