Sort of PGR: Waxing question

A had a brazilian wax a couple of weeks ago. I had never done one before - always just kept things tidy by shaving, but visibility isn't so good in the region these days, so I decided to give the wax a shot. In spite of the fact that it hurt like a bitch, I *love* how it turned out and am planning on keeping it up for a while.

My question is, how often should I get it done? It's been 2.5 weeks and the I can start to see/feel hair coming in again. I know it has to grow out to a certain length before I can re-wax it, right? For some reason, I had thought people went more like 4-6 weeks between sessions. I'd like to space them out so that I get it done relatively soon before delivery and then don't have to worry about hair down there postpartum. (Although I suspect this will actually be the least of my worries at that time, LOL.) Anyway, if you wax down there, how often do you go?

Not sure if you are asking me or JJ but I will say that I thought it fucking HURT. Worse than eyebrows. I was actually surprised at how much it hurt. But it was over very quickly and worth it IMO!

To me, the Brazilian hurt three times as much when I was pregnant.

I usually go every 4 weeks. It just depends how fast the hair grows. My salon suggests 3-6 weeks between waxes. The hair does grow in softer the more you get it waxed, so the growth doesn't really bother me. I also think it hurts less the more you go, but maybe you just get used to it lol

@mnh2013 If you go and think it really hurts you could always just get your bikini line done instead of the full Brazilian.

This is my fear.

I usually go every 4 weeks and I've been told by my esthetician to not come back before 4 weeks ( I was going every 3 weeks and she was saying the growth wasn't complete or full enough and there would be more strays than if I waited until week 4- everyone is different though). Anyway, pre pg, I took 2 ibuprofen before every appointment and have been scared about going w/out the medication + overgrowth + hormones and sensitivity. 

I'll have to figure something out.

I only get french bikini waxes, not brazilian, but in general I think my eyebrows hurt more! The only really bad part is the front and the rest is no big deal.

I've been twice while pregnant and quit. Not because the actual waxing hurt more or anything. But the ingrowns afterward were so plentiful and painful that I was miserable. I was using Finipil on it daily, but that gets harder when you can't see what you're doing, and it wasn't working :-)

I go every 6 weeks. The hair gets a little long pregnant, but I can't see it and it's not too bad. The pain is a little more than not pregnant, but not bad at all. My next one shoul dbe next week at 38 weeks and I'm thinking about skipping it. Just too much of a bother right now!

I haven't been at all since getting pregnant, but I think I might suck it up and go over my winter break. Depending on how that goes/feels, it could be my one and only. At least I'm saving a shit ton of money?

I go every six weeks, pregnant or not. The most painful part is right above the pubic bone, for some reason. I'd say waxing hurts slightly more now but not by much - YMMV.

Sounds like going 6 weeks between is perfectly reasonable so I'm going to wait until after Christmas to go for the next one. Thanks!

And yea, the front/top definitely hurt way more than the rest. I am glad to hear that maybe it won't be as painful if/when I go not pregnant!

I am WAAAY to scared of the pain! I give you a lot of credit for going.

I have just been shaving blindly down there. I havent been able to see my lady parts in a loooooong time, but I just kind of shave away anyway using my other hand as guidance...and luckily I have kept it pretty nice and groomed down there!

I don't find it all that painful. It's over quickly I've been once since pregnant, and it didn't hurt any worse than before. I go every 4-5 weeks, but I've been on prenatals for awhile and my hair grows like weeds anyhow, lol (body hair and head hair both).
