I have no desire to ever run a marathon, but your post still made me tear up! I'm sorry it was such a struggle, but I'm glad you found the positive and are proud of everything you've done. I think just finding a replacement marathon after the airline disaster was amazing, so to have then gotten sick and powered through anyway is HUGE. Congrats on finishing your first marathon!

Seriously, amazing recap. I got goosebumps AND teared up during it. (I hope that's not creepy from a newbie.) You are outstanding!! Congratulations again!
What a recap! You really overcame every obstacle for this one. I know it wasn't what you wanted, but I hope you can be really proud of what you did. Congratulations!
What an amazing race recap and what a story. I started tearing up at this line: "Our national anthem, sung loudly with pride by runners when the microphone shorted out instead of whatever Italy does" and have full fledged tears now. You are an amazing woman, runner, and wife and your mom would be so proud. And so would Katherine Switzer.
Wow, sweetie. So, SO proud of you!! I love the Katherine Switzer theme beautifully woven through your story. Congratulations!
Now I just have to ask... What are you thinking for your next marathon? {Make sure you take some time & rest before you think too much about it though. }
Love! You captured all of the emotions so perfectly. This was beautifully written. The whole post was emotional , but I finally lost it at the end between your finish , your husband running up to you , and that volunteer. I love your addition to the quote. It could not be more true. I think it 's one of the reasons I keep going back for more. So proud of you .

Wow! Awesome re-cap and amazing job continuing on and finishing the marathon. I think you might have inspired me to sign up for another half. Just can't quit pull the trigger on a full...someday....
i am a professional writer and this is one of the best things i have ever read in any post. what an amazing story. congrats, hugs and high fives to you.
really, truly the best recap I have ever read. I have never felt more inspired to run a full. I have also never felt so foolish, sitting at my desk sobbing. I am SO incredibly proud of how far you made it, the strength you had, your perseverance, and your attitude. Great work, and congratulations.

Good for you on finishing! Katherine Switzer lives in my area. I ran a 5k this fall where this was a delay getting the results, and the guy announcing them was joking around asking if anyone wanted to get up and sing a song or something. This woman gets up, introduces her friend Roger Robinson. It was only later that I realized that it was Katherine Switzer. Greatness, we were standing right next to running greatness and didn't know it!

I love your re-cap, made me teary eyed. Congratulations again. I'm so annoyed at myself for not checking in so we could have met up. So proud of you lady! I'm sure a better marathon is in your future.
