I placed an order on Black Friday from Running Warehouse for a few things. One of the pullovers I bought needs to be returned because it just fits really weird. I'm debating whether or not to return the arm warmers I bought as well. They are like little sweaters for your arms. They were only $4.75, so not an expensive purchase at all.
If you have arm warmers, do you wear them? Is it more of a gimmicky thing?
For running, I wear long socks w/ the toes cut out as arm warmers for racing, so that I can throw them away. But, you could easily tuck them in to your waistband when you're ready to take them off.
I wear my kids' babylegs (baby leg warmers). They work perfectly!
It's funny, last winter I ran exclusively in tanktops and arm warmers but was always complaining about my shoulders being cold. It took me all winter to realize I could fix the problem by just wearing a shirt instead of a tanktop. lol.
But then my friend gave me a few running shrugs (basically arm warmers that also cover the shoulder) so I know I was not the only one with the cold shoulder problem.
I also have arm coolers from Costco and I use those as warmers too. They have built in UVA protection and I like that.

Yes, I love mine. Mine also cover my hands, and they have thumbholes. I wear them a lot for races when it starts off cold, but I know I'll warm up. I can take them off and tie them around my SPI belt, and I don't even know they're there.
I made some for Chicago, but I ripped those suckers off by mile 3. I get heated pretty quickly though. I tossed them because they were $3 socks, but I could have easily tied them/shoved them somewhere & not have noticed them.
The pair you have sound thick. Are all the warmers that aren't homemade a sweater material? That seems weird.
What's the difference between using arm warmers vs wearing a long sleeved shirt?
Arm warmers you can pull down when you get hot, and still wear a tank top and be warm. DOnt have to worry about pulling anything over your head, and can easily pull them up if you get cold. They are good for that in between weather.
I wear arm warmers a lot because I hate being cold when I start running but hate being hot once I warm up. Wearing arm warmers gives me less to complain about.
Thanks for all the input! I guess I'll keep them and try them out and see what I think. It's supposed to be frigid in the midwest this weekend so I probably won't be able to use them on my long run on Saturday, but hopefully soon!
Am I the only one who never uses them? I've never even used the sock trick... if it's cold enough to need arm warmers, I'm in long sleeves... if its warm enough that I would want to take them off after a few miles, I'm in a tshirt (or wear a throw-away shirt).

I never have. If I get too hot with long sleeves I just roll them up.
