I love this board so much, you ladies are helping me keep it together as much as I can.
I am going in for an ultrasound in 2 1/2 hours. (I have to drink all the water and stuff before it so they gave me some time to do that.) The appointment is another fit in so hopefully I get in quickly.
DH has decided to take the afternoon off work, well he is leaving work so he can meet me for the appointment. I will need him there if this goes the wrong way.
Right now I am sitting at home drinking some tea and hoping that time passes quickly. I also might lay down and see if I can nap. (who am I kidding I won't be able to nap.)But I need some sleep as I didn't get much last night.
My ob's office starts each appointment saying they'll try the doppler but if the baby doesn't want to cooperate they'll do an u/s. They said it like it can be expected.
Good luck!
This makes me feel a little better. Thanx. My OB said that we would figure it all out before the end of the day tomorrow, she doesn't want me to go through the weekend without knowing what's going on.
I am so sorry that you have to wait. My ob said the same to me. He was like we will try to find the hb but if we don't it doesn't mean anything except we didn't find it with the Doppler. He couldn't find it, so I got an u/s and everything was fine. I want to say I was 13 weeks? Hard to remember.

Thank you for the update! I'm glad that they are getting you in soon (wish it was sooner!) and that your DH is going to be with you...either way, you do not need to be there by yourself. I'm sure everything is okay. Praying for you and your LO! Hang in there, drink plenty of fluids, and get some rest! So, so many hugs for you awick14!
They had trouble finding the heartbeat on the doppler last time I was in. It took almost 15 minutes to find. When they finally picked it up, it kept moving. Apparently my kiddo was just moving around too much for them to find the heartbeat and record it long enough to determine heart rate. They eventually got it. Also, I hope this doesn't sound rude because I have no idea if it is the case with you, but if you have a little extra padding around your waist like I do, it can also make it harder to find that early.
Keep us posted.
Somehow I didn't read the question in your post until now when I was rereading the thread.
I don't think that is a rude question, and yes I do have a little extra padding around my waist. She never mentioned that as something that could make it hard to hear. Her main reasoning for it being hard to hear at this stage is that there are no landmarks as its hard to feel where the baby is at this stage, which makes the heartbeat trickier to find. She said in woman further along its easier to hear. So hopefully at my next appointment it will be easier to feel. As I will be 18 weeks then.
I've been thinking about you. My midwife had trouble finding the hb with the doppler at my 12.5 week appointment. She wheeled the u/s machine right in and told me that she didn't want me to stress about it (I've had 2 miscarriages). The baby was leaping around doing flips, which explained why she couldn't find it on doppler. I cannot imagine having to wait for an u/s - that would be so stressful. Hang in there and let us know how it goes!
That has got to be so frustrating waiting! I have had a few times where the doctor couldnt hear the heartbeat clearly on the doppler, and she threw me on the u/s. Even at my last 24 week appointment we had to do that. Someotimes theyre just stubborn little guys
She told me to go pee and come back because sometimes a full bladder can effect the Doppler picking up the heart beat.
Just waiting for her to come back.
(For app users I'm just over 14 weeks$
Edit: I am having my US today around 2pm (PST) DH is taking time off work to come with me as I won't be able to handle things if they go wrong, and I kinda want to hear him say "I told you so" when things go well. (lol)
My OB did tell me that she is pretty sure that the baby is fine, she thinks that she heard the "edge of the heart beat" but every time she thought it was it, it would disappear. So this is hopeful.
This happened to me at my 16 week appt. The baby was moving around so much in there that they couldn't find the heart beat. We'd think we heard it and then the baby would move. And then we'd think we'd find it and again it would move. He was moving so much that day that when we finally found it and got a heart rate recorded, took the doppler off and and tried to listen again (just for fun), we couldn't find it again and finally found it clear on the opposite side of my belly.
I'm so upset for you that you are going through this, but I hope you are seeing your little one on the screen right this very minute. Big hugs to you!!

Just want to add my story of encouragement. Mine always hated being monitored and moved away from everything. We once gave up measuring his heart rate at an ultrasound because he wouldn't sit still long enough and we knew for sure that the wand was aimed at the exact right spot because we were watching it.
I've been thinking about this all day! I hope you're in or coming home from your u/s now and come back with good news of a sneaky ninja baby. I'm not someone who prays, but I have been hoping so hard for you today.
